PsychEyeball Posted September 6, 2021 (edited) I'd say most creepypastas are bad because most people writing them don't get that horror typically works better when you leave the reader fill out the blanks and let their imagination fill the void of the horror that's being described. Instead, most people write in horribly obsessive detail every little point so that we get sentences like "...and Dr. Robotnik's fat floppied corpse drooped down on the floor, his mustache being eaten by a searing sea of hyper realistic ravens poking his dead eyes out of their sockets, dragging the brain out of the foolish fool of a doctor who only mustered his brainpower to stop Sonic, that infernal hedgehog, who speeded around the floor aimlessly as the blood of the doctor filled the floor, making it slippery like an ice stage. Ice stages! How many players were thrown into the freezing hell of Satan's game programming acumen, with the only goal being to torture the video game player, who was Tommy, sitting in his reclining chair with a tear in his eye, but the tear was actually blood because Tommy just broke his monitor with his head because of that devil-filled ice stage in Super Mario World 666." Don't get me wrong, it's fun writing garbage like this, but it sure won't get you taken seriously. Edited September 6, 2021 by PsychEyeball typos oops 1 Quote Share this post Link to post

Murdoch Posted September 11, 2021 I would just like to point out creepypasta is a really dumb name and conjures images of murderous Italian cuisine. 0 Quote Share this post Link to post

The first time I heard it without knowing what it was, I thought it was just pasta that was left out and got fungus on it. 1 Quote Share this post Link to post

"Back in my day, we used to have stories about lost copies of Sonic and Metroid games that would keeeel you and a guy with bleached skin and a permanent grin that would disembowel you in the night and this slenderman that brought doom to all! These days, pshaw! Nothing but the laziest, unimaginative hacknyed excuses for villains I've ever seen!" No, but the title's a false premise. The writing was utterly atrocious and the storytelling oftentimes made absolutely no sense. However, I can't help but giggle every time someone mentions Jeff the Killer. You're telling me someone killed a gun-toting bully out of nowhere with just one punch!??? That his tendency toward insanity was marked by a 'funny feeling.??'And people actually believed this utter nonsense?? And the name itself is nearly as stupid as 'The Bye-Bye Man' and changing it his initials ('JTK') does absolutely nothing. It'd be better if there were actual stories of him breaking into people's houses and gutting after telling them 'go to sleep,' but no, we get this godawful story written by someone who's grasp on reality at the time was questionable to say the least. Though there was this YouTube channel I discovered not too long ago that's basically attempting to bring competent writing to old creepypasta characters. Not to say it's Pulitzer-winning stuff (not at all, lol), but it's definitely a thousand times better than Jeff going insane and giving himself a Glasgow Grin. https://www.youtube.com/c/DavidNearVoiceActor 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
