spineapple tea Posted July 2, 2023 Come to think of it, none of these are really examples of the Mandela effect considering they're not widespread, it's more just "things about Doom you misremember." Anyways, I was surprised to read that No Rest For The Living is a Doom II WAD, not a Doom 1 WAD. It's one thing to forget a WAD is for Doom 1 since most are for Doom II but for it to be the other way around is a little weird. 1 Quote Share this post Link to post
ViolentBeetle Posted July 2, 2023 When submitting a map to Doom II from memory, I discovered I remembered brown brick house in MAP02 wrong. I always believed that it's fully walkable inside but the front door is unwalkable due to being too high. In actuality there's a separate second floor you can't enter from the first but you can enter the first floor. I haven't tried walking through the front door since the nineties, probably. 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
BeachThunder Posted July 2, 2023 I remember thinking No Rest for the Living had a more smooth difficulty curve going from breezy on the first level to hard by the final level. But then, years later, I started replaying it...and even on the first map (on UV) there are mancubi, revenants, and a pain elemental... 0 Quote Share this post Link to post

You DO on the "geisha girls" in episode 3... but I was misremembering the strippers in the very first level. 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
zokum Posted July 4, 2023 E1m6 has a lot of not all that bright indoor locations. The outside areas are bright. The 'maze' area has similar brightness levels to the outside area and a high ceiling. If you don't see the ceiling, which is full of lights, it would be reasonable to assume it was sky. The map also has a areas with bright sky and nukage outside, and this area contains nukage. I sort of remember them as outside areas as well. 1 Quote Share this post Link to post

Manny84 Posted July 5, 2023 Yup, those are the orange tassels I was referring to. Compare and contrast the girls in E3L1 who have little one-pixel nipples that match their skin tone. ... And that's as much conversation as I'm willing to have about pixel boobies, especially as they aren't even from Doom. Spoiler Imp butts are way more risqué than anything in Duke anyway. 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
houston Posted July 6, 2023 Alright, alright, guess I was wrong. Must have misread the pixels 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
SovereignX9 Posted July 6, 2023 Playing SNES Doom back when I was a wee lad, I legit remember a cacodemon in E1M2, when you go up the stairs to get the red keycard. I've come to the conclusion that my stupid child brain memory got that mixed up with E2M1, on UV when there's a caco up on the platform of the ascending steps making a stairway. 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
