Vile Flesh's MAP 17: bugged secret?

Is it me or the Megaarmor secret in Vile Flesh's MAP17 has a game-breaking bug?

If I am not fast enough to press the skull switch and run to the newly-opened teleporter before the metal pillar rises again, I appear to be stuck and have no choice but noclip my way out.

 

Am I doing something wrong? Can I get out without cheating?

Look at the skull switch pressed at 7:22. If you have missed it before, you may get stuck indeed.
