How do you like your Burgers?

Recommended Posts

Nothing too special for me:

Top bun

Ketchup

Mustard (if I feel like it)

Bacon

Lettuce

Mayo

Cheese

Patty

Bottom bun

Writing this reply feels like I'm ordering food.

I seriously need to eat one big burger one of these days...

Some nice meat is what I like for a burger, balanced with vegetables too.

That's usually how I like my homemade ones.

I don't like tomatoes on my burgers. They make the bun soggy.

Me neither. Don't like the texture of modern mass-market tomatoes.

I'll make an amendment - I don't mind garden tomatoes on mine sometimes... Grew some nice beefsteaks this year.

I will agree with this. If they've been grown by my wife and intentionally placed between the buns by myself, I will tolerate tomatoes on a hamburger. Unfortunately, my wife no longer raises tomatoes. She's too busy with feral cats and the T-N-R program for the City of Garland.

i used to eat burgers almost everyday.
Maybe with normal bread, but well, its a burger.
Mayonnaise, fried egg, cheddar cheesse, letuce, bacon and maybe a rice ommellete instead of a fried egg.

But then i found that i am celiac...
So no more burgers for Mr. P41R47...
:(

I tried making burgers with celiac bread, that is made with rice flour or other kind of flour that i can eat, but the bread is too hard or rigid, so its really difficult to eat the burgers.
I loose interest in trying when raisins come and rice bread went over the clouds.

No i use two rice ommellete as bread with the meat, bacon, letuce and cheddar cheesse in between them :D

When I make a burger, I don't mind switching up ingredients or trying new things... but I do have some guidelines that I follow.

1: Lightly toasted buns/bread - just enough for a small "crisp" texture.

2: Easy condiments - I like mayo/mustard/special sauce/etc but I'm not trying to waterboard my burger.

3: Veggies - add whatever you like, but keep the ratio low. Veggies enhance the burger, not overpower it.

4: Where's the beef? - Done but not burnt. And keep the thickness just right. Not a flat, dry patty but not a 8 inch tall grease bomb.

        * Also, keep the entirety of the burger manageable. I like big burgers, but Jesus H Christ I do not have a snake jaw. These tall ass burgers ain't doing anyone any good.

I do no fear death. I fear only that my rage recipe for a good burger will fade over time.

None, Chicken Sandwiches are better.

Pink in the middle patty

Toasty buns with some mayonnaise and another sauce of some sort (Thousand Island, A1 Sauce, BBQ Sauce)

Fried Egg

Bacon

Onion Ring or Hashbrown

Tomatoes

Any kind of Cheese.

My favorite restaurant burgers are:

Hangover Burger - Old Chicago

Red Robin Burger - Red Robin

The Boss Burger - Chili's (This thing is fucking huge, and I can never finish it in one sitting.)

Bread

Mayo

Onion

Some slices of tomatoes

Cucumber (Yes, cucumber)                     +                        A glass of water or a cold beer (Zero alcohol)         +             some french fries or chips

Lettuce

Cheese

Chicken meat

Mayo

Bread

Now I'm a bit special, since I eat everything in separate, for example, I take off the meat, the cheese and cucumber, then I take both slices of bread and eat them with all the other ingredients, then I eat the cucumber, the cheese and the meat in that order, and after that I eat the chips or french fries while drinking either water or beer (non alcoholic)

Bread - Slightly warm with a decent amount of fluff to it.

Meat - Thick with a lot of juices.

Cheese - Cheddar and fresh from the deli. I will avoid American Singles if possible as that can barely be considered cheese.

Fried mushrooms

Bacon

Fried Onions

This thread makes me want a burger.

Dammit, now I want a burger.

I have never been a big fan of fast food burgers. Bland and flavourless. I heard good things about Burger King, tried it once and was left going "Really?"

I am on a low carb and low calorie diet. My lady makes these special buns with witchcraft and fairy dust or something. Beautifully fresh and taste just like real fresh normal buns. Pesto and cream cheese on the insides of the buns, lettuce on bottom, then cheese between a couple of pieces of whatever meat is going at the time.

When we order from Burgerfiend in Cessnock, I get a Fiend with a fried egg added.

The base Fiend comes with cheddar, bacon (Australian style, so thicker and less not cooked as crisp as in the US), lettuce, onion, tomato and their house sauce.

When we make them at home then it's usually what we have to hand, which most commonly is tomato, beetroot, baby spinach and cheddar, with BBQ sauce.

Sometimes at home we make them with lamb mince patties instead of beef, in which case we may swap out the cheddar for crumbled feta.

Here is something else that might work for you. It's something I developed mainly for hot dogs but it works for burgers as well -- you can use Romaine lettuce for the bun. Hot dogs require only one leaf, and if you fold a Romaine leaf over a small burger, it can work as well, but for big burgers you'll need 2. Romaine is thick, tough lettuce, which is why it works as a very tasty substitute for a bread-based bun. You'd be surprised how well it holds together when you bite into the burger, too, though a mess will inevitably ensue if you have a complicated burger with a lot of condiments.

As for me, the simple Home Burger I'll make tonight:

First, I spice the meat with garlic powder, celery seed, Jane's Krazy Mixed-Up salt (a salt and herb mix) and ground red pepper. This gives it character.

Cook the meat to medium well-done, placing 2 slices of Colby-Jack cheese on top after I flip it, so the cheese melts into the meat and also helps seal in the heat so the meat cooks faster.

Served on 2 slices of Village Hearth Cottage Bread with lettuce, tomato and mayo. I use toothpicks to spear the burger and then cut it in half to make it more manageable.

Ideally, I'd also use Vidalia Sweet Onions, though I do like red onions as well, but alas, forgot to buy the onions tonight because I was on the phone with a friend while at the store. D'oh!

If I'm eating a burger at a restaurant, it has to have bacon, and preferably not thick-cut bacon, which is hard on my teeth. Corporate fast-food burgers are unimpressive, though I do look forward to trying Five Guys. We also have another "boutique" chain in town called Johnny Rockets, which I really enjoyed in Chicago, especially for the outdoor eating right downtown, or Gold Coast, anyway. ;) We also have A&W here in Oshkosh, along with Wendy's, and a Midwest chain called Culver's, and all of them produce sub-par burgers, IMO. What we really need is a White Castle for some classic sliders, but IIRC, the closest one is 90 minutes away in Kenosha. Worth a stop on the way to or from Chicago, tho. ;)

My all time favorite burgers are the ones with some combo of

- Caramelized onions

- Provolone cheese

- Barbeque sauce

- Mushrooms

Cooked medium. Anything less is sacrificial, anything more is sacrilegious. No lettuce or tomato, keep those on the salads. Burgers are meant to be tasty, greasy and terrible for your health.

If you're up to it, order a burger with a fried egg or pineapple ring on it. I guarantee either option is delicious.

The one at carls Jr is good.  I use to ride my bike with my dad to that place at night when I was in elementary school at the old street we use to live in.  We wen't to Carl's Jr somany times I remember crashing unto a wooden telephone pole and crying.  It was in the middle of the sidewalk and it was dark.  People driving by probably got a good laugh!

Super star burger.  The sauce is out of this world....
