How do you like your Burgers?

My all time favorite burgers are the ones with some combo of

- Caramelized onions

- Provolone cheese

- Barbeque sauce

- Mushrooms

Cooked medium. Anything less is sacrificial, anything more is sacrilegious. No lettuce or tomato, keep those on the salads. Burgers are meant to be tasty, greasy and terrible for your health.

If you're up to it, order a burger with a fried egg or pineapple ring on it. I guarantee either option is delicious.

"Burgers are meant to be tasty, greasy and terrible for your health"

I couldn't agree more.

I love burgers. Absolutely my favorite cheat meal and choice of food when I go out.

I hope no one brings up corn in this thread...

On Topic, one of those massive "Burgers with everything." Beef, cheese, lettuce, onions, fried egg, beetroot, pickles. pineapple, ham, bacon, with mayo/BBQ sauce. And a coke to wash it down. Also all of the juices. If I don't have a multicolored, oily puddle on my plate after I'm done, did I even eat a burger ?

Dammit, now I want a burger.

I have never been a big fan of fast food burgers. Bland and flavourless. I heard good things about Burger King, tried it once and was left going "Really?"

Burger King in Australia is called "Hungry Jacks." 15 years ago when I used to eat them sometimes, they were really really good. Fresh, grilled meat, crispy vegetables. But now they are the same processed slurry artificial burger-paste as most of the other fast food places here. Point is, there was a time when Burger King was amazing at burgers. But that time is at least a decade ago.

Brioche style buns, crispy sallad, fresh red onion, sour and crunchy pickles, a thick and juicy patty with some pepper jack cheese, and a very nice helping of a sour and spicy dressing.

Agreed. No cheese in a burger? Madness. Sheer madness.

Two patties, four slices of cheese, mayonnaise, raw sliced onions, cooked rare-medium rare, buns just as big as the patties, and with enough butter 'n grease to land lesser people into a hospital... maybe a non-mental one, too.

Don't forget the onion rings! (not sure if sides count, but fuck_it.pk3)

Word.

You're up in Seattle, right? If so, have you tried Zippy's Giant Burger? It's run by Blaine Cook, best known as vocalist for The Accused, plus 10 Minute Warning and The Fartz before that. I've heard good things about the place.

Medium-well, just ketchup and mustard. I find Harveys is the best burger you can get from a chain in Canada; Dairy Queen is second best.

Medium, with pepper jack cheese, raw onions, dill pickles, dab of mustard, ketchup, and mayonnaise on a butter toasted bun. Nice and simple. There's no need for tomatoes if you're already putting ketchup on it, and no need for crisp lettuce if you're getting that crispness from the dill chips.

Anyone who prefers them less than medium is inviting food poisoning though. I like my steaks medium-rare, but steaks are a single cut of meat, with only a small portion exposed to air and bacteria. So as long as you have a steak browned on all edges, at least an 1/8th of an inch in, you're probably good. In the process of grinding beef to make burger meat, every part of that meat is exposed to air, hence every part is exposed to bacteria. You want to make sure it's browned all the way through. I get it, the pink beef is tasty, but once you've had food poisoning from undercooked ground chuck, you'll try to save others from that pain. Do not undercook your ground beef. Your colon will thank you.

Words of wisdom ladies and gentleman. Seriously, I myself was a victim of undercooked ground beef. I'm not going to give any gross details, but I did not have a good time.

If we're talking about my "ideal burger":

Texas toast, one beef patty, cheddar cheese, a bit of bacon (not an insane amount!), crispy lettuce, grilled onions, and maybe some aoli on the top bread. If I'm feeling cheeky I might put a couple potato chips on it, just for a little extra crunch - assuming there's room to still hold it and eat it comfortably. (I'm having a side of chips with the burger either way - gotta have a side of chips..!)

Pickle is optional, but welcome.

EDIT: Oh god and the patty has to be fully cooked, and the bacon crispy. Like Jello, I like a rare-ish steak, but ground beef? No thanks!

I call it "The Schwarzenegger", for reasons I won't explain because I don't know them.

My brother insists on his burgers being pink in the middle, and we've gone back and forth on it. My uncle, who was a butcher for years, and still does it part time, reflects my position. Steak is fine when it's pink in the middle because that section was never exposed to air. Ground beef, you need to cook it all the way through.

I guess my brother has never had the pure delight of painting the inside of a toilet after eating undercooked ground beef.

Personally I like a basic burger with just the buns, the burger itself, some cheese, ketchup and fried onions. Nothing over the top. :)

Also I need to try a BLT-burger hybrid.

  • Monterey Jack cheese
  • Lettuce
  • Onions
  • Mayonnaise, and maybe a bit of dijon if I'm feeling it, never seen 'burger sauce' anywhere outside of a chippy strangely enough
  • Bit of bacon if it's a place that knows how to make good bacon, i.e. something that doesn't taste like I'm biting into a rectangle of pure salt
  • Side of chips
  • No actual burger, because a meat patty doesn't count as anything
