97th Century Fox Posted October 6, 2021 (edited) Well, it is finally time for me to make my first submission! I have been mapping since the beginning of 2020, creating a whole bunch of maps, most of which ended up unfinished and janky. I began work on this map back in May, and I am happy to announce that I have finished it! Here are some screenshots: Spoiler https://imgur.com/a/hoqzNGt Story: The demonic invasion has been stopped, but the Earth remains in ruins. Using improved teleportation technology, humanity has set out into the stars in a search for a new home. Soon enough, a lush planet is discovered. However, someone was here before. The planet is dotted with ancient structures, however, there is no sign of intelligent life. You are part of a team that was sent to the surface to investigate. As you touch down, disaster strikes, as your team is ambushed by a horde of demons. You wake up in a dim room, surrounded by strange runes. It appears you are the sole survivor. You wonder how the hell spawn got here. Perhaps they conquered the planet as they tried to conquer Earth? Perhaps they are the original inhabitants of this planet? It matters not. You grab your trusty pistol, which the numbskulled imps forgot to search for, and prepare for battle. Gameplay info: Jumping and crouching are not allowed. If you do not comply, you will be forcibly stuck in a teleporter loop!!! This map has been adjusted to the various difficulty levels, so feel free to pick whichever suits you best! Downloads: Brand Spankin' New Version: FalseParadise-V1.1.pk3 Old and Dusty Version: Spoiler FalseParadise.pk3 This map, makes use of the OTEX texture pack created by ukiro and the Supercharge mod created by Tango. It also makes use of a variety of resources found on Realm667 [Marble Columns - Tormentor667, Captain Toenail, ShadesMaster; Limestone Cave Formations - Captain Toenail] This map is designed to be played with GZDoom. kalensar Posted October 6, 2021 Okay, found the first bug cuz I really doubt you meant this to be intentional. Right after the Green Armor up the stair where you get attacked by the two Grenadiers and the Flesh Worm dude, theres the Megasphere to the left. I hopped across the gap to get the megasphere and got stuck in a teleport loop when you go to hop back across that takes you to a monster closet and then back to the Megasphere pedestal. I'll edit this post with further info if or when I find other stuff. 1 Quote Share this post Link to post

Since you aren't supposed to jump, you will try to walk towards it, activating a trap which lowers you to the next area. The trap is a part of progression. As for the teleporter loop, it is part of a secret you are supposed to find later. It will teleport you to the megasphere. When you go to the teleport line near the sphere, it will take you back to the place it took you, however the door should be open. I wouldn't call this a bug, moreso a beginner forgetting to specify important info. Edited October 6, 2021 by 97th Century Fox 0 Quote Share this post Link to post

So then I found this. This Switch works for the elevator when it looks like it should do nothing. Thats the elevator to the Yellow Key Card. Thats about all I can see for early game navigation thats spotty. This map is fairly cryptic on direction to go, especially with some doors and elevator shafts not looking like they are anything but a wall. This is like Hexen level cryptic. 1 Quote Share this post Link to post

Ah, thank you for the feedback so far! I will see if I can make things more clear. 1 Quote Share this post Link to post

Alright, I have gone through the map and I have made the doors, switches and elevators a bit more noticeable. I've done that by making them appear brighter than their surroundings, as well as making the light around them flicker a bit. I've also added some switches for a few elevators, as well as remaking the switch you mentioned previously. I have also disabled jumping in the MAPINFO file, which means that jumping is disabled by default now. 1 Quote Share this post Link to post

Pixel Fiend Posted October 7, 2021 (edited) Pretty nice map. Looks great and has fun gameplay. It's the first time I see those grenadier guys and the bulky machine gun. Is it a modified version of Supercharge? I was surprised to actually enjoy the stock midi you used. Edited October 7, 2021 by game 1 Quote Share this post Link to post

The grenadiers are really fun to play around with! 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
Muleke_Trairao Posted January 5 (edited) Hey there, @97th Century Fox! Just letting you know that the links for the screenshots are not working anymore. Maybe uploading to a website like imgur.com would be a better choice. Awesome map, btw! :D Edited January 5 by Muleke_Trairao 0 Quote Share this post Link to post

Hard to believe someone found my little wad two years after I released it! Thanks for playing! 1 Quote Share this post Link to post

I've played it like last year I think, but found the link to it again on Supercharge's main thread. :) 1 Quote Share this post Link to post
97th Century Fox Posted January 5 Alright, I've added a new screenshot link. Nice to look back on this. I started mapping again recently after a decently long hiatus and what finally inspired me was remembering this wad. At first I was thinking of remaking False Paradise for the MBF21 format, but that idea quickly turned into something far greater in scope. Stay tuned. 2 Quote Share this post Link to post
