How to play DOOM 95 on 2021!

Now we all know GZDOOM, Chocolate DOOM, DOOM Eternity, etc. are the source ports used nowadays but how can you play doom 95 correctly? well here's the the tutorial for you

 

1. To get DOOM 95 go to https://archive.org/details/DOOM_95
2. click the ZIP word and wait for it to download
3. Go to the zip and copy the files down here:

 

XBAND.ID
DSETUP.DLL
DSETUP16.DLL
DOOMSER.DLL
DOOMMDM.DLL
DOOMLNCH.DLL
DOOMIPX.DLL
DOOMCFG.DLL
DOOM95.EXE
DOOM.HLP
DOOM.CNT
DMOUSE.VXD
 
4. After that paste it on whatever directory you want to put your doom 95 in
5. Now go to the DIRECTX Folder on the zip file and copy these files:

 

DDRAW.DLL
DDRAW16.DLL
DPLAY.DLL
DPSERIAL.DLL
DPWSOCK.DLL

 

6. After that put it on your doom 95 directory
7. Copy your IWADs on the doom 95 directory

 

Now if you want to play it with mouse here's the tutorial for you:

8. Now go to this link: http://youfailit.net/files/dmousexp.zip
9. Open the zip
10. Open DooM95Mouse.exe
11. Scroll down and click the "Select Doom95.exe" button
12. Go to your doom 95 directory and click on the DOOM95.exe
13. Click on Configure and change the setting to something you prepair (or just no)
14. Exit the configuration and the mouse patcher

 

Now if you want to record demo files (Because it doesn't work) here's the tutorial for you:

15. Now go to this link: http://classicdoom.com/dm95fix.zip
16. Open the zip 
17. Extract the dll into your doom95 directory and replace it

 

After that click the DOOM95.exe and click launch!

Too bad Doom 95 doesn't support sprites, But lets check out Doom 95 in 2021!

I can see the novelty factor, but surely there are many other ports that are much more relevant for playing doom in 2021?

 

It was a big deal when it came out back then compared to dosdoom I guess and I used it alot back then, but personally there are too many features missing for my taste compared to more modern ports.

 

Or am I missing something?

The novelty of playing a Win95 centric port on a Win10 machine is certainly there.

Also, Doom95 Portable technically counts as piracy. 
The installation comes with all the commercial files, including Final Doom aswell...

Not in the linked thread.  It has been cleaned and only the shareware wad is included now.

I tried DOOM95Portable and it was nice, it was better than the tutorial i did tho i remember trying to use it but it didn't worked.
