Guess the map [5th edition] (ANSWERS REVEALED)

The idea is simple, you see screenshots of map layouts and you're free to guess as many maps as you can. Each will belong to a different wad to make things varied and interesting. This will follow a difficulty progression as with the 3rd edition:

 

Easy: These will include maps that are from IWADs or very popular levels from very popular PWADs that are Top 100/cacoward winners
Medium: These will include PWAD levels that are usually popular, as in they are Top 100 WADs of all time/cacoward winners or runners-up

Hard: These will include PWAD levels that are less popular than the showstealers in Top 100/cacoward winners, as well as memorable levels from lesser known PWADs
Expert: PWAD levels that are much lesser known and usually not from famous cacoward winners/Top 100 wads, though there may be some that were from winners/runners up but are generally not well-remembered levels.
Master: More obscure than the Expert category but follows the same criteria. Soon we'll see even more obscure PWADs in this category.

Like before, the screenshots will be accompanied by a hint for each one. New hints will be delivered for all maps on the 16th of October. The correct answers will be given on the 23rd of October. You may now guess away!

 

===EASY TIER===

 

01.

-This would have won an agitating competition IF IT WEREN'T FOR THOSE MEDDLING CRATES!!!

-You go on the sides, then the middle

 

02.

-That "re" is a trap room.

-You start in the middle and so does a cyberdemon

 

03.

-Heavily inspired by one of Romero's finest.

-That teleport closet on the left side has plenty of enemies but it is somehow possible to shoot at it from outside.

-Who overturned that truck?

-What's that invisible bridge?

 

05.

-Hordes of Chaos! Wait, this isn't a Hexen wad, despite some architecture similarities.

-So many cathedrals!

 

===MEDIUM TIER===

-The southwest thing is a Doomcute turret that you cannot unfortunately use (by the way I cut out a lot of the scenery parts to cover only the ones the player can access here)

-Shares its name with an Imagine Dragons song.

-A tribute to an early Hell Revealed map.

-But not necessarily from a Hell Revealed-inspired set.

-Very industrial themed and grandscaled.

-The last arena has inescapeable pits.

-The showstealer in a small mapset in the final act.

-Made (partly) by the same author as the one in 9 from the last edition.

-Some form of Egyptian slaughter, especially when you get to the round section.

-Has Mortal Kombat II music.

 

===HARD TIER===

-Something about a Santa inspired this single-level PWAD.

-It's something that is forsaken in a way.

-The central hallway is HUGE and has tons of monsters.

-It starts with lots of crates and ends with lots of crates

-Again I cut out a ton of the outside background, but I conveniently left in the things on the right. What is on the sides of the Hubble Space Telescope?

-From a short and unfinished wad.

 

14.

-Although a sleeper hit among the Top 100 WADs, this level has you teleport from one landmass to the other, then back when you're done.

-Monsters will teleport to the empty fields on both sides.

 

15.

-Single level PWAD which proved to be one of the most memorable city maps out there.

-The author also composed the music track himself

 

===EXPERT TIER===

-With the MIDI pack loaded for this map, you can hear some birds chirping.

-A level by a "magical" author, but not that kind of magical.

-Populated with mancubi.

-Has Descent 1 music

-A powerful ZDoom wad (note I apologize in advance for this one since I couldn't get a good SLADE image for this one to work, it was small and I'm an amateur at this stuff. I also don't want to remove the side rooms either).

-In one secret room you have to correctly spell the author's name.

-There's actually a good reason this is number 19. As that was also the year this level's WAD was for.

-You can say it's quite "bloody".

-Also from 2019, and also a penultimate level in an E1 replacement

-I just did the secrets for this entire WAD on Doomwiki recently.

 

===MASTER TIER===

 

21.

-You're floating above ground in the starting area, and you are also floating in the south section too.

-Like the previous one I just did the secrets for this WAD recently and this was one of the easier ones.

 

22.

-Why yes that is a racetrack at the bottom.

-Aside from the racetrack you have a pseudo-deathmatch area, a cafe, a bookstore, and a garden, along with hotel rooms.

-A special map for a special source port.

-Made by one of our Espi award winners.

-Many parts of this resemble Eviternity's last episode, but the wad is not Eviternity.

-The areas on the left have arch-vile-like enemies attacking.

Okay, this time I will participate despite my poor knowledge of non-IWAD levels -- and I'm not so sure on possible Final Doom maps either...

 

1. I'm not sure I get the hint, but this looks very much like Doom 2's MAP29: The Living End.
2. Umm... uh...
3. Circle of Death 2 from... some pwad? :P
4. This is the one I've seen somewhere. The one that had a truck turned over. Can't remember what it was. Are you sure this is Easy tier?
5. I know, I know! Alien Vendetta, MAP25! Valley of Something. Or was it Hordes of Chaos? It pays to watch Decino's channel.

7. Hell Concealed MAP01? (In other words: haven't got a clue)
8. Wild, but serious guess: the one early Sunder map (MAP03 perhaps?), I think its name had "metal" in it, but not sure.
9. I'm fairly certain, because I played it literally yesterday: Syringe, MAP06? Can't remember the name, but the actual final level before the placeholder map.
10. The only egyptian themed maps are from Evilution and Scythe 2, and this doesn't look either of them.
11. - 18. No clue
19. No clue, but let's take a wild guess: some map from Stardate 20x7? (Checked, it was released 2017, so that's not it. Sigh.)
20. No clue. E1M7 of Double Impact?
21. No clue, but hot damn some of these maps look cool.
22. - 24. No clue either.
25. Some intermission map from Back to Saturn X part 2?

A better week for me than the last, with 15 answers. That said I have italicized those that didn't feel like guesses because they required more than my memory to solve. I mean, can it be called a guess if you got it by scrolling through several megawads in a map editor, or dozens of Doom Wiki map view pages?

It's recommended to guess from your memory first. Afterwards, well, I really don't have much control of what anyone does on their devices. If they wanna scroll through Doomwiki/map editors/other people's answers to find some answers well there's nothing to stop them honestly. All I say is guess from your memory first (I consider this to be a "guess") and well you're free to answer and look up otherwise (less of a guess, but again I have no control). I like to keep things free here.
