Koko Ricky Posted October 10, 2021 https://www.moddb.com/engines/doom-engine/downloads/uac-m5 The fifth in my series of maps that reimagine "Knee Deep in the Dead" as standalone maps for Doom 2. This map is limit-removing, but contains a custom .mp3, so use a port that has .mp3 support if you want to hear it. UAC-M5 is my own personal vision of Doom's E1M5, Phobos Lab. It has many of the familiar spaces and ideas of the original map, along with a number of deviations that make it its own. As an experiment I added rotating columns filled with barrels, which are intended to suggest explosive machinery. The end result is a bit clunky, but there are ample opportunities to use them. Enjoy! 7 Quote Share this post Link to post
Biodegradable Posted October 11, 2021 (edited) Awesome map, fam. I really enjoyed it. It's eerie and atmospheric with blood-pumping action and a fun use of lighting and set-pieces. The big radioactive core or whatever that part is was especially interesting. Edited October 12, 2021 by Biodegradable 2 Quote Share this post Link to post
Koko Ricky Posted October 12, 2021 Thanks for playing! Watching it taught me a few things about what to consider for my next map. 1 Quote Share this post Link to post
FireWarden1000 Posted November 16, 2021 I completed UAC-M5.wad with LZDoom on Hurt Me Plenty, well designed map, 85/100. Positives, the map size is very large with a completion time of 30 minutes. The map design is not linear, and I had to search around the map for switches, and keys. Many switches to operate, and each switch has important functions in the map. The map is horror themed, and I do not see horror themed maps very often. The negatives, many enemies appear far away from the player, and each area in the map is very large in size. Enemies will not be able to ambush the player, and fights will not be very challenging. I see a number of enemies appearing in the "green water" areas, and are not able to reach the player. I recommend placing enemies in locations to ambush the player instead of leaving enemies in these "canals." 1 Quote Share this post Link to post
Caleb13 Posted November 17, 2021 Solid work, but I noticed a few bugs. Lost soul 225 is outside the map and 3 cacodemons inside sector 258 can't be killed. Then there are some HOMs, I'm posting screenshots. 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
holaareola Posted November 19, 2021 Really enjoyed the map, I recorded a video but the voice recording didn't work and I also die halfway through with no recent save. Better than nothing though! Loved the switches in scale, multidirectional combat and the final area was very cool looking. 1 Quote Share this post Link to post
