The rules are : 1. The maps that you want in your perfect MegaWAD has to be the same as the original slot. 2. Maximum of 2 maps from the same MegaWAD. For example, let's say I really like Toxic Touch from Alien Vendetta (MAP10) and Hazmat Hazama from JPCP (MAP29). Then in my "perfect MegaWAD", those 2 maps will take the same slots. And so on until you have 32 maps. Curious to see how you guys/girls will make your perfect MegaWAD! EDIT: Honorable mentions are allowed. At the very least, plasma rifle no longer has cooldown, and Borgeois Megawad buffs are applied to pistol, chainsaw, combat shotgun and chaingun. Likely, some more profound weapon buffs should be included Perfect megawad is more than just a set of 32 fun maps. Not only each of 32 maps should be fun on its own, they should also be fun togeteher. At the very least, the maps should not feel the same, and there should be no outlandish upwards difficulty spikes. So I set 4 things to achieve with my map compilation: 1) Pick fun maps, with as little filler as possible 2) Provide coherent-ish difficulty curve. 3) Choose maps with diverse gameplay 4) Make the switch from one map to the next at least somewhat plausible (In short, my dillemma was: how to make something like 180 Minutes pour Vivre, or Ancient Aliens, using only 2 maps from those two megawads?) I think, I managed to succeed in my goals. I especially like the stretch from map 07 to map 11 and teleportation from map 15 to map 16 via stone circle at the end of map 15. Moreover, it seems that the resulting megawad could be made boom-compatible. (Some MBF-compat maps notwithstanding.) Obviously, that would require some extremely clever enemy replacements to consolidate all the custom monsters into some more manageable number of foes. I hope, I would find some time to explain my map choices in detail on a later date. Compiling 'the perfect MegaWAD' under the strict conditions in the OP was not easy. But the search for good maps inspired me to play and replay many fun doom pWADs. 2 Quote Share this post Link to post
