hiimaura Posted October 18, 2021 Hi! Aura here! I wrote this program called EZDec, which is a Windows application that allows users to create Decorate code for zdoom-based ports with a simple GUI. It's a good start for people who have never made a Doom mod before, but are interested in toying around with it. Right now, its very early in development, but I plan on adding a lot of features to it. Currently, it creates a .pk3 file with your customized weapon in it.Some of the things you can do include: Making a pistol that fires at max speed. Making a shotgun chaingun. Firing an Imp fireball from a BFG Plasma Rifle firing revenant tracers What I plan to add: Fire rings/lines/other shapes of hitscans/projectiles/railguns Drag and drop custom sprites and apply offsets. Make your own projectiles (not just using Doom 2's) Make your own monsters. Support for all doom-engine games based on IWAD selection Randomly generate new weapons. Here's a picture of the GUIGITHUBhttps://github.com/auratoostronk/EZDecRequires Microsoft .NET Framework 4.7.2DOWNLOADhttps://github.com/auratoostronk/EZDec/releases Please leave me any feedbacks, comments, suggestions down below! If you see any bugs, report it to the Github link above! 21 Quote Share this post Link to post
DannyMan Posted October 18, 2021 Does it support dehacked patches? 1 Quote Share this post Link to post

MFG38 Posted October 19, 2021 Funnily enough, I had an idea to do a similar thing a while back - my plans of actually executing it flew out the window when my interest shifted from programming to something else. :P Anyway, it's a cool idea for sure. Don't know if I'll use it myself since I'm pretty experienced with DECORATE, but for beginners, I can see this being a fairly useful tool. 1 Quote Share this post Link to post
Syn Posted October 19, 2021 I'll have to try this out later today, looks super helpful! 1 Quote Share this post Link to post
DavidN Posted October 19, 2021 This is nice! I could imagine it being good for experience modders to scaffold something out without remembering the entire list of required states, etc 5 Quote Share this post Link to post
DOEL Posted October 19, 2021 this is awesome, looks like I'm gonna make my first mod 😎 I'm gonna try to make a "rebalance": add an 8th hitscan to the SG, make chaingun shoot faster, and make plasma balls faster 1 Quote Share this post Link to post
forgettable pyromaniac Posted October 19, 2021 I can see it doing small yet really important shenanigans given enough TLC. Good luck! 1 Quote Share this post Link to post

Dark Pulse Posted October 20, 2021 Excellent idea. Makes me wonder if the same concept could be applied to ZScript... 3 Quote Share this post Link to post
hiimaura Posted October 27, 2021 Thank you all for the support and posts so far. I honestly didn't think much of the project at the time, but I'm glad to hear people want to use it. I might just stick with this project :P 3 Quote Share this post Link to post

An easy way to write DECORATE code supplements other things like DECOHack (Which has its own language) and DEH9000. It is that i have of little time, but this is Wiki-worthy stuff. 3 Quote Share this post Link to post
