Question about MAPINFO

I've made a remake of e1m4 map for Doom 1 and was thinking how to make it easiest for the player to access it. Instead of forcing the player to use cheats to skip to the correct level, I was thinking of replacing e1m1 with it. But that obviously messes up the music, map name, etc. I'm not very familiar with all the sourceport stuff (only ever made vanilla maps), but apparently you can adjust these things in MAPINFO file? My main concern is compatibility across all the various sourceports. How many different versions of this type of file are there to cover most if not all the sourceports? Are there any conflicts or other problems that could arise from this?

And I'm guessing there isn't anything that can be done to change these things for vanilla Doom, apart from replacing the actual e1m1 song with the e1m4 one. But I'm almost certain my map already breaks object / memory limits for the vanilla game so I'm not sure it even matters.

If this is about changing music and automap map name, I think it would be better to use Dehacked for automap name and change music, like you said.

I read more about MAPINFO I think the cleanest way to go about this is to use it to create a new episode for my map (that instantly starts at e1m4). If the sourceport used doesn't support the MAPINFO format, then the player can use IDCLEV 14 to skip to the map. This way it should be compatible with everything and I don't need to mess with the music etc at all.
