A set of likely unoriginal but neat ideas I had

Recommended Posts

What if there was a remix of the original Wolfenstein 3D but entirely made with Doom's engine? Like a sort of "Wolf3D the way Doom Engine did" sort of concept, where the levels are kind of a step-up from the original. Harder, more realistic, better lighting, better movement. Wolfenstein 3D II, if you will. With Wolf3D enemy textures.

Also, what about a Revolutionary War style WAD, where you're a Patriot fighting through a British camp against Loyalists, British soldiers, and Tarleton's Legion before fighting Cornwallis (or Tarleton) himself and killing him (like fighting Hitler in Wolf3D).

You already have plenty of Wolf3D for DOOM mods such as Machines of Death and Shadow of Destiny, if you're looking for stuff like that:

Hmm sounds neat... still have yet to find that Revolutionary War mod though :(

Hypothetically, if I tried to play it, I don't think I could be drawn into the process for long, because the game engine would remind me of Doom, and Doom is not a place where the player only shoots at people and, say, dogs. Hearing only the sounds of people, and well, dogs, I think I'd quickly get bored, because it, compared to doom, will be less varied in types of enemies. It's not even that I want the sounds made by enemies to have variety, I think almost all enemies gonna be hitscanners, and that will entail very poor gameplay

Is 8 GB of ram enough?

What are your specs? How much RAM you have doesn't help much.

I played it with a GTX 1070, i7-3770k, and 16GB RAM and still experienced severe drops in framerate.

Wow, I can't believe how that's possible 😅

I have 4GB of ram, and an Intel Celeron. you can only imagine how choppy it is (even when i made a review with a Lag-less screen recorder)

Quite easy: it makes use of most of GZDoom's advanced features - due to the nature of them and Doom's engine in general, Performance will drop.

That perf tanks considering BoA is designed for maximum visual quality, no holds barred. The result is a visually endearing game that needs high end hardware.

Its like Crysis, except GZDoom is at heart still 90's tech.

I now realized you can't get fooled by pixel art.

My mother has a computer like that, and believe it or not, she had better performance on Linux Mint booted via USB than the pre-installed Win 10

Yes, there have been Wolf3D mods for Doom since not long after modding it became a thing. Google WolfenDoom.

There is a 'The Way id Did' series for Wolf3D and Spear of Destiny, but not in the DooM engine...The closest I can think of is Laz' Wolfendoom mods and AFADoomer's TC, but those are replicas of the originals, not remixes or remakes.
