I was surprised to find out "I went back in time and voted for Hitler" actually had lyrics other than the distorted yell of Hitler

The sad thing is - "Picnic Of Love" is probably their best written album and it's just one big joke. They actually tried!

While putting "Anal Cunt" lyrics in this thread would be appropriate - I don't think we should put them here because let's be honest - they clearly didn't try and even if they did - they probably "tried to make it sound like they didn't try" and they clearly succeeded.

This whole thread could just be Anal Cunt and that would be enough. They tried to make the worst music humanly possible, and I guess they succeeded.

A lot of the stuff like Cannibal Corpse is intentionally controversial, but stuff like Barbie Doll or Timmy Mallet are utterly banal and are the aural equivalent of beige paint...

The thing about Anal Cunt is that the funniest ones for me are the really mundane sounding ones, e.g You Live in a Houseboat, You Keep a Diary or Kyle from Incantation Has a Moustache. To say nothing of that masterpiece Old Lady Across the Hall with No Life. That shit is gold...and I dont think it has any actual lyrics.

 

I'd also like to nominate just about every pop song of the last 20 or so years for being bereft of any redeeming quality. There used to be a sort of artistry to pop music, even at its shallowest (e.g Madonna's 80s hits) I can find something to appreciate...production, programming or whatever...but now? Urgh.

There are plenty of gems in modern pop, so I tend not to condemn it wholesale. Although it isn't my style of music either, and accordingly I listen to very little of it.

 

It is sad how much of pop has come to rely on all of the same ideas, though. There are far too many vague love songs that all use the same chord progression and the same set of instruments. It's possible to do all of that well, but when hundreds of bands are all doing the same thing for years, even with excellent artistic effort on all sides (which is not at play here), it gets tiring.
