UnusualBug Posted November 2, 2021 (edited) Hey, I'm looking for textures that is on the "normal/mundane" and less bleak. I'm working on a small Mall Map just to train myself to making doom mapping textures. But it's hard for me to make a Small Mall Map look welcoming when the game's og textures are so bleak and creepy. Here's my MAP: I look for some other mods that tries that "regular buildings and town" look to it. This is kinda what I'm trying to go for. I just need textures that is welcoming, colorful, or mundane if there is one. Edited November 2, 2021 by Gothic Croc 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
UnusualBug Posted December 26, 2021 (edited) I'm still waiting for an answer. Maybe I need to be more specific. You know how Duke Nukem 3d has city places, and bikes? That's the stuff I'm looking for. Edited December 26, 2021 by Gothic Croc Forgot to add this. 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
Borg Posted December 27, 2021 I hate to see a question go unanswered. All I do is play other wads until I find stuff I like. For really specific things, you will probably have to make your own. All the disclaimers on using other mappers textures apply of course if you plan to publish. Best I can do. 0 Quote Share this post Link to post

The description of what you're looking for in textures, sounds very similar to textures in their mapset. In fact, the "GAYM STORE" screenshot, looks very similar to it. DCG Retrowave has given permission to use these textures in a different thread ("Feel free to use them for your own project and if possible, please mention that they came from DOOM 87 :D"). As for other textures, you can also look through Jimmy's great thread on custom textures. A lot of the textures posted there may be too bleak/creepy for your purposes, but you may be able to find something to use. Back in April 2020, @an_mutt compiled the textures in that thread into a texture pack, named MISCTEX. Perhaps an_mutt will eventually update MISCTEX to include the last 19+ months of custom textures. There's Zoon-tex by @Jimmy. This resource pack is all recolors of mostly stock textures, but that's the beautiful conceit: they're recolors. And some are quite vibrant. Mapping in bright purple, bright green, bright yellow, and bright orange (for instance, there are more) can make any map pop. Here's a few others that might have some unique alternatives for you (not necessarily Duke Nukem-style :Aquatex by @jmickle66666666Wireframe by @Dragonfly 2 Quote Share this post Link to post

If you find more, post it here when you find some. Actually, how do I put these textures into UDB? Edited December 30, 2021 by Gothic Croc 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
