Trying to save a map gives me this error message. So here's a question: how am I supposed to save the map? lol

Clicking "try again" will just crash the UDB like nothing happened. It does not save the changes, and crashes UDB. Huh...

Error message: "Unable to save the map: Target file is locked by the following proccess: Builder([~] Ultimate Doom Builder\Builder.exe)

Press retry to close the proccess and retry. press cancel to cancel saving.

All i did was making sectors a bit lighter.

Save to a directory where you actually have write permissions.

Nevermind, it's probably something else.

Looks like you have two instances of UDB running, probably both with the same file opened?

UDB has admin permissions, and D disk, where all my creative works are at, is a seperate drive. So write permissions being a problem? I don't know how.

Anyway I just pressed retry and it crashed UDB, but thankfully saved the map changes. It's second time happening. Ever since UDB had to count 90K things lol

See my 2nd edit.

I did test my map. Could that be the cause for second instance? Cause I know I didn't turn it on myself.

Try deleting the Builder.exe process it mentions because you clearly are working in two instances of the same program.

In general this tends to cause many odd errors - its the source of many mysteries at my job, haha.

I remember a couple occasions back in the day where I carelessly opened a wad in XWE without closing it in Doom Builder, and saving it with both open, and my map getting instantly turned to soup by a single save. Thank your lucky stars that UDB won’t do that to itself (although yeah who knows how a second instance opened in the first place, other than “by accident”)
