Unexpected crashes (GZDoom 4.7.1 / UDMF)

I was going back and updating all the levels in my wad to have a cool location update feature like in Doom 3. This was going smoothly until I made the necessary modifications to the map EHM1 in the wad. Now whenever I load that level, I'm prone to crashes whenever I cross portal lines and there are enemies awake on the map (Everything works fine if I toggle "no monsters" or use the "Kill Monsters" command).

 

I need help diagnosing this!

I tested it out, I crashed at the first portal line I found, the one with the chaingunners in the tricky stairs place.

That's weird stuff... I can understand why it could crash, since all of the portals you've opened throughout the map, but why it happens only with monsters... it's a mistery.

 

Then I decided to "extract" that part of the map and paste in a new empty wad and it worked...

That meant that these portals weren't the culprits and I started looking for other portals til I found this:

It's the first one I've seen here where you've used a Static portal instead of the usual Visual+teleport and, knowing that these are the most troublesome if someone do not follow their rules, I deleted it.

No more crash! (at least in the zone I tested it out).

 

I suggest you to take a look at these Static portals if you have more and think about change them or edit the map accordingly.

I thought I could get away with that one being a static portal given the limitations they have, and like I mentioned the level was working perfectly fine on my end until I started putting in the (what I thought was entirely unrelated) location message scripts.

 

If changing it to a visual/teleporter portal fixes it, then it's what I'll have to do. Thanks for taking a look!

That was exactly it. I changed those to the simple visual/teleporter portal lines and the issue is gone. Damn static portals, so fickle!
