leejacksonaudio Posted December 5, 2021 (edited) I'd like to take a moment to mention in this forum that I'm now accepting commissions for musical works. I'm offering music for mods/WADs, streams, and almost any other purpose you can think of. I work on a per-minute basis, and my rates are flexible and negotiable. I can handle just about any range of complexity, from a simple General MIDI file to a heavy metal band to a full orchestral ensemble. For those who might be reading this and aren't familiar with me, my game credits include Rise of the Triad, Duke Nukem 3D, Stargunner, and Shadow Warrior. You can hear my current stuff at https://leejackson1.bandcamp.com . If you're interested and would like a quote, please head on over to my Commissions page at https://dleejackson.lbjackson.com/commissions/ today. I hope to hear from you soon! (Thanks to @Doomkid for approving this post in advance.) Edited December 5, 2021 by leejacksonaudio 28 Quote Share this post Link to post

bofu Posted December 5, 2021 Whoa, this is absolutely awesome and unexpected. You were one of my inspirations for pursuing music as a career, with the ROTT and Duke3D soundtracks in particular being very formative for my compositional style, something that stuck with me even when I went into graduate studies and eventually got my doctorate. Not tooting my own horn here; I just want you to know absolutely how huge of an influence you were. Music is a huge part of my life now, and you're part of the reason for that. While I normally stick with a "I write my own music" mentality and was planning on making an entirely original soundtrack for my current megawad project, I think I'll absolutely make an exception here. I'll be reaching out to you shortly. 3 Quote Share this post Link to post

leejacksonaudio Posted December 15, 2021 To anyone who's looking to commission some music: things will be a bit delayed for the next several days while my son and I build and configure my new Music Computer. I've got about 1700 VST plugins that I have to restore somehow, and it's not going to be a walk in the park. I should kick back in to writing music next week, barring major catastrophe (or asshole plugin companies, whichever comes first). Thanks for your patience and understanding! 1 Quote Share this post Link to post
leejacksonaudio Posted December 28, 2021 (edited) COMMISSIONS HAVE REOPENED My new Music Computer is up and functioning at long last, so I've reopened the commissions queue! Now's your chance to get in a request for your own custom piece of music from a guy who's got way too much free time on his hands. :) Hit me up at https://dleejackson.lbjackson.com/commissions/ if you're interested! leejacksonaudio Posted April 2, 2022 My commissions queue is down to a population of just two people! I've only got enough commissions to run through the rest of this month and part of May. Now is the perfect time to get in a request! Please visit my web page at https://dleejackson.lbjackson.com/commissions/ for info and samples of my work. 1 Quote Share this post Link to post

Nikku4211 Posted May 6, 2022 (edited) So do you default to any one of your equipment to play your General MIDI (and Roland GS if you still use GS drum kits) songs, or is there a pattern to which equipment you use for which GM/GS MIDI? Also, do you still make tracker modules (of any kind) or...? Because I know you used MultiTracker at least a few times back in the 1990s. leejacksonaudio Posted May 10, 2022 (Sorry for the delay, @Nikku4211, just now seeing this...) I "default" to my SC-88Pro. It's setup on MIDI channel 1 in Cakewalk by Bandlab, and its "A" channel is plugged into I/O channel 1 on my MOTU micro lite MIDI hardware interface (the "B" channel is in I/O channel 2). However, if I'm playing anything using the Microsoft Windows Media Player app, it still defaults to using the internal Microsoft GS Wavetable Synth, which isn't really true GS as we all know by now. BTW, I now also have Yamaha XG capabilities as well. I bought a Yamaha MU100 from Japan, and it's working off of MIDI channels 4 and 5 from my MOTU micro lite. It's got sounds the Roland SC-88Pro doesn't have, and vice versa. Works good for commissions - it's already battle-tested and approved. :) On 5/5/2022 at 8:04 PM, Nikku4211 said: Also, do you still make tracker modules (of any kind) or...? That was the last bit of tracker music I made. I've since concentrated on music utilizing Native Instruments' KONTAKT sample-based platform instead when I've needed samples. It's a bit harder to get your own samples into a platform like that, but there are ways. 1 Quote Share this post Link to post

Ah. Well, I use CoolSoft's MIDI Mapper in order to get every application, even Windows Media Player, to output MIDI to my SC-55ST. 1 hour ago, leejacksonaudio said: I cut my teeth on MultiTracker, then moved to FastTracker II to compose the soundtrack to Stargunner. Oh, so would you say you're no longer interested in making music for tracker module formats for, like, a game engine that uses those formats? 0 Quote Share this post Link to post

I might accept it as a paid commission, but it would take me a while to get up and running with the samples necessary to work with the tracker program. I'd also have to take a serious refresher course on how to use a tracker program, seeing as how I haven't used one since the Stargunner days. :) 1 Quote Share this post Link to post
