Congrats to all the winners, runner-ups and all the people who worked in this award, despite that has a rough year for everyone. 

And Doom is more than alive...and of course, will still kick ass.

It's been a pleasure working on this! And I couldn't have asked for better teammates. Hope everyone enjoys what we've worked on, and I look forward to many more good releases next year :)

At long last! 'tis most gratifying to see this finally go live! Truly, it has been a great honour contributing to this most prestigious event. Congratulations to the winners, and hats off to all the myriad creators who, through their efforts, made Doom's 28th year a bounteous one indeed. Cheers!

Good picks, good wads, good write ups. A little puzzled on the insanity dm award (given it's a mod rather than mapset? Not that it isn't deserving, I just figured it would be in another category) but otherwise solid and some surprising picks. Looking forward to another year of quality wads!

Original post below and to clarify, yes I was disappointed by seeing the boom of MIDI packs this year mentioned only on the sidebar which isn't indexed or easily searchable. But I need to make myself clear. I was not demanding a Cacoward for myself, just more visible acknowledgement of the MIDI pack boom for the benefit of all the musicians involved:

There were so many MIDI packs that were released this year, a huge boom of MIDI packs from so many talented people and you decided not to mention any of it?

 

Not even a single word?

 

Shout outs to decino, @JD Herrera @Cammy @TrialD @Sego @Bloo @Sumo @leejacksonaudio @northivanastan @Doomkid @Xulgonoth and the rest of the Doom MIDI musicians who have been working hard these year, contributing to all these MIDI packs. Sorry we all got completely slept on in the Cacowards.

I had literally no idea Rand Phares died, RIP

Predicted that Lullaby, TPH, Heartland, Arrival and kraflab would get awards, A:Z would get a silver, and many megawads mentioned yippee.

Oh boy the wiki is gonna get more new stuff too. One thing I would have liked more if I may criticize, was more attention to Doomwiki, specifically @Xymph and his tireless work with the place (unless I missed it). Couldn't stress how well Xymph makes the place grow.

Really nice I got to experience most of these except for the TCs and gameplay mods this year before these awards came out too.

 

IMO, that screenshot for Fractured Worlds isn't good. NEEDS MOAR BLUE

Refracted Reality was the biggest snub apparently.

It was a crazy year with so many amazing releases. And I'm sure next year we will see many more unique releases. Although I am a classic fan, Lullaby was my favorite release for 2021, it was simply mind blowing.

Happy 28th anniversary of Doom, and kudos to all the winners, runner-ups, and the Cacowards team. Another year, another fantastic community-made creations, and another award article with great volume and quality. And shout-out to @Xaser for winning the Espi award this year. Very well deserved lifetime achievement award for the veteran "Master of all Trades".

 

It's amazing to see that now the Cacowards features twelve winners, instead of ten. With so many great mapsets and megawads to play, it's no wonder the team had to pick more entries for the winners. And, oh wow, I am really happy to see that we now have a silver cacoward trophy for every runner-up, with the article on the main page. Much appreciated for granting my wish this year! Runner-ups definitely deserve more love, rather than staying on the sidebar.

 

With all of these amazing stuffs for just 28th anniversary, I can't even imagine what we're going to have for the 30th birthday of Doom, just 2 years later. If there are community members, who're working on their special projects for that special time, good luck and have fun! :)
