What do you think about the Quake Remaster?

Recommended Posts

I was thinking about buying for the PS4 for Christmas and I just wanna know if it's good & worth it. From what I've seen from the reviews, it's pretty good so far, but with a few glitches with the online multiplayer and the Load feature. And yes, I have played Quake before, so I'm very familiar with Quake.

If you got some mates to play with, Horde Mode's gonna be a blast, enhanced graphics and the Ranger skin for Doom Eternal (in case you play it) are just the icing on the cake. Would recommend

I really enjoyed the Quake remaster. It looks pretty without straying too far away from the source material (looking at you, Dark Places), it comes bundled with all of the content that was made for it officially, which are the two Mission Packs, the bonus episode made a few years back by Machine Games and yet another new episode made by Machine Games with a hub structure comprised of several mini episodes and some really impressive architecture that couldn't be done on the engine back then.

Multiplayer's easy enough to set up on it and Horde mode has been added to it recently if you want to endlessly slaughter a whole lot of Ogres and Fiends.

Go get it, bought it on Switch and it was worth every Cent.

On the PS4 you also have a great Controller (can't play it with the Joycons, it is impossible, hail to 8Bitdo)

I bought it on Switch for convenience, it's excellent and the upgrades applied are extremely faithful and accurate to the original game. Turning on all of the optional graphics settings lowers the framerate a bit, but most people probably play with those settings disabled (plus, we're talking about the Switch). The inclusion of free and easily accessed curated mods like Honey is great and has me excited for future mods.

In short, it's the most accessible way to play Quake in 2021, and the remastered assets only add to the value.

I've got a few people coming over at Christmas, so it's perfect :)

I have it on Switch and it's absolutely worth buying. A fantastic remaster that goes above and beyond what 'normal' re-releases get, but still remaining faithful.
