Palsma rifle: Ready to deal with a bunch of nasties or pin down one extra big nasty on the other side 2. SSG: Good to instantly slay some small enemies, or incapacitate a large one long enough to get some space 3: BFG 9000: Extra nice because I can have it primed and ready to fire the second I arrive on the other side. Likely to move up the list if I'm on a map with a whole lot of really mean enemies 4: Chaingun: Same reasons as palsma rifle, though obviously more effective against lighter prey 5 to Last-1: And the rest! Last: Rocket launcher: Dangerously likely to get a face full of red if there's an ambush right on the other side so I tend not to go for this one 3 Quote Share this post Link to post

Kute Posted December 15, 2021 (edited) Objectively the plasma rifle is the best weapon for this. It's fast enough to score some timely interrupts and hits hard enough to burn a trail to the nearest cover. I don't really understand why you'd use a rocket in a blind teleport in a tough wad. I know most mappers aren't cruel enough to teleport you into a true point blank situation but nobody should be choosing the rocket launcher over the plasma rifle in close-quarters combat in a frantic situation. cannonball Posted December 15, 2021 Plasma gun, if the foes are not an immediate direct threat then you would be able to swap for whatever weapon you desire. But if you teleported into a mob at close range then you need some that fires rapidly and does substantial damage per hit. The plasma gun suits this perfectly. 2 Quote Share this post Link to post

It takes a split second to switch weapons, so usually it will be whatever weapon I happen to have the most ammo for at that moment. In DM it’s a bit different. I usually pull up the chaingun because it offers the best protection in a pinch if you need to run and gun out of a tight situation. Tapping fire repeatedly ensures your shots always hit where you aim and people tend to fall down quicker this way and also I know it annoys people who only ever use the SSG. With that said, if I have the BFG it would be that but you don’t use the BFG in DM as you do in SP unless you want to die so it is best reserved as a surprise. 0 Quote Share this post Link to post

If the map tough and I expect mean stuff, then I switch to Plasma (or even BFG and I will prefire it, if the map is REALLY nasty). If the map is chill, I would even choose SSG.
