Has there ever been a Doom equivalent of Nintendo Direct or E3?

There are people who talk about how the Cacowards doesn't mention some mods or something and i wondered: Has there ever been some sort of project that pushed news for upcoming mods and releases or anything around the Doom community?

Maybe some people did that but not as something traditional, more like a one time thing.

Not every project will get a Cacoward but i thought some people care more about what ever gets mentioned in general.

As in, nominations or namedrops and references is good enough, specially if those outside the Doom community (including journalists) want to use something as reference to how big the Doom fanbase and its content universe actually is.

(i mean, look at the VGA's, who cares what gets the Doritos Pope GOTY award when a niche game you like simply having a little bit of exposure is all you'd want first?)

(similar reason why to some people, Doomguy being a Mii outfit in Smash is good enough)

I thought some sort of video format showing news about mods, even something as simple as screenshots from a #ScreenshotSaturday tweet, could also to keep people interested in stuff.

Not just wad or mod releases, but also updates, stuff relating to source ports and just interesting projects and experimentation in general.

Even including a "throwback" segment about past stuff that is neat and existed.

Speaking of extra segments, there could be one for other games, specially if it's something that rarely gets custom content.

I'm also reminded of when some people set up a Tumblr blog called Inmost Dens to keep track on releases for Doom and other retro FPS (which outside a post about Sigil, is pretty much abandonded) and Marveller, who used to make video compilations of mods for Doom and also other games. (but his channel is gone, but you can find reuploads)

Basically, something also to do with the flow of information on the internet and how it can relate to projects or even traditions of a fanbase.

Specially with the return of the franchise and newcomers. (who may be distracted by memes and easily digestable formats from other fanbases, that might be more unaware of what makes the Doom community than Brutal Doom fans from 2012 lol)

Saying this as an "ideas guy", this might be one of my least bad ideas since this one about videos for the Doomwiki:

It seems like something the Wadazine might do, but you'd have to ask @Endless about it. At the moment, we don't exactly have a dedicated video editor. It would be really cool if this was implemented though! Just need to find someone with the right sort of spare time....

Man this makes me feel old. Once upon a time, Doomworld actually had a front page! With news! And there were other sites like this too!

But yeah, in 2022 (almost) a monthly video or something would be a way better medium.

If you've got the cash, I've got the time. ;^)
