dumb UDMF derail

the more people will map in UDMF, the more reasons to add UDMF support for sourceports that don't have it.

The people who maintain these ports are on this forum, you could just talk to them about it.  That's much more likely to succeed than hoping enough baseline UDMF content springs up to force their hand.

It works this way for the Chocolate/Woof/PRBoom+ fork ecosystem.  Ports share features all the time, with MBF21 being a notable recent example of mappers, port authors, and other interested parties coming together to address some pain points.

ok, let me check... UDMF appeared around 2008. sure, you're right, it definitely works, as i see that most those sourceports happily support UDMF by now.

Just because they share features doesn't mean they've gotten to your hobby horse.

Have you asked any of them why they haven't added support for UDMF?

Have you asked any of them if they even want the feature in the first place?

Are you earnestly trying to do the port authors and MBF mappers a favor here?  Or are you trying to strongarm them?

@AlexMax thank you for the great demonstration of why it never worked, and will never work the way you're telling it works.

I truly do not understand why you appear so unwilling to collaborate and instead prefer to try force your own idea of how things should be on other portmakers.  Who does this benefit?  What good is being accomplished here?

I think that's quite enough of that.

(I'd really love to see one source port thread not end up into a pissing contest. You folks are better than this, come on.)
