Is this a good idea for a weapon?

I was making some weapons in DECORATE (Don't have any sprites, yet.) and there was this one idea I had.

 

It would be a weapon for when you are unarmed or when you want to holster your weapons and you could use melee with MOUSE1 and MOUSE2, is this a good idea?

I haven't understood, you want to melee attack with that weapon when you're out of ammo or you want to create a new "fists weapon" that will be selected when you run out of ammo?

Holstering the weapon quickly and then pulling out a pocket knife to cut a enemy's throat out.
