I did fix that but it seems like it didn't save for some reason.

Bummer!

At least, it is fixed now. Thank you! :D

This is a lot of fun. In many ways, it's basically "Doom II: But More Claustrophobic"

A lot of the arenas are smaller than the originals, which often makes them more of a challenge if you're used to the vanilla maps. There's less room to circle strafe or move around. Not a bad thing! I really enjoyed this a lot.

As creator of MAP25 i can say very big "Sorry...", 'cause my memory was not so clear about map's proportions. xP

I guess it depends: @Zulk RS's recreation of MAP08 (MAP35) feels a lot more spacious than its vanilla counterpart.

I don't quite remember why it turned out that way. I think I just like making big rooms in GZDoom. :P.

That was a complete accident that I got the Map08 slot, as Engired couldn't really keep up with updating the main post and title and I didn't notice that Zulk was already working on Map08, I also mentioned that in the wadhosting description. He was fine with it at the end of the day. But I promise you Zulk (If he reads this) I will never steal a map slot from you again! Never again!

Don't worry about it. Besides, my map ended up getting in as MAP35 so that's awesome.

You made the right call! I find your map to be a considerable improvement over the source material.

But you are right: your map is MAP35, not MAP34.

Oh no! The same door that was causing me trouble in MAP08 is also causing me trouble in MAP35: after accidentally entering the room with the Barons of Hell and the Cyberdemon, I got their attention and then ran to the room with the Rocket Launcher first. However, I am not sure if one of the Barons in pursuit opened the door or it was still open when I hit the two switches where the Pinky horde was standing, but now the door will not open.

Wait... The rocket launcher room is the one with the Cyberdemon right? Did you try pressing the switch inside the room?

No, it is the one with the Pinkies.

Weird. I'll go see what's up with that.

Alright, I remembered to play it like @Wavy told me to. Had a lot of fun, so here. This now has the honor of being the 10th episode of Roebloz Plays Doom.

Just wanted to clarify, is link in the original post the one that leads to most recent version?

I think I should probably update the wad I'm playing.

Yes

Sorry, there won't be a video for Maps 13-15. I forgot to start recording and I don't want to redo it.

MAP15 is definitely an odd take.

I think there's an arachnotron on metal cube that gets stuck in a wall.

(Actually it ends up suspended off the cliff. Sector 8 with teleport is too close to the edge)

I really enjoyed streamlined experience of 13 and 14, but it's a shame I don't get to jump in the water and explore in the latter.

I'm playing through the whole wad right now and I think I just arrived at Blood Falls. MAP15 is weird. It is almost unrecognizable from the original Industrial Zone. I had fun with it though. It just felt like the MAP01 to a hard megawad like Hell Revealed or something but it wasn't.

There's stuff I can identify, but a lot is missing. I think it's fun to throw a curveball like this.

At least it's not like the original E1M7 which randomly threw in a Cyberdemon for no clear reason, and you'll see more from me and my upcoming takes on Unruly Evil and Habitat.

Oh yes, it's your map. You should dress arachnotron arriving stuck.

So I just finished playing the whole thing and...

Firstly I think something broke in MAP29. In the last room before the teleport that brings you to the stairs at the end, in the room with the three walk-ways full of shotgunners over lava, I pressed every switch but the third walkway to the final teleporter just wouldn't lower enough to actually climb on. Maybe I missed something but I think that MAP is broken.

The Hell levels were my favorite by far. I feel like the weakest part of the whole megawad was between MAP09 to MAP11. After that it started picking up. Factory was amusing though I kinda didn't like the crushers there. 7/10 -Too many crushers (jk). Maps 14 and 15 seemed really different from vanilla but also really enjoyable. Did not really like maps 16 to 20. Courtyard was fun though it was really short compared to vanilla. I think a third of that map was missing or I was really shit at exploring. MAP21 was probably the second hardest map in the entire megawad. It was almost Plutonia levels of difficult. Barrels of fun (I think that's map 23?) was also super difficult and may have been the hardest map in the whole megawad. I don't think anything else in the set got anywhere close to the level of difficulty of Nirvana and Barrels. Chasm seemed pretty faithful to the original. Really loved Abandoned Mines though (MAP26?). I don't know what the mapper did but that map just oozed atmosphere. Or maybe it was my cold medication finally kicking in. Either way, that is my favorite map in the whole megawad. I was pleasantly surprised by Blood Falls. It felt like a remaster. I think I actually prefer this version over vanilla on that one. Really I prefer a lot of the Hell Maps of this wad over vanilla.

I was really looking forward to Monster Condo and honestly? It didn't seem to be that different from vanilla. A bit smaller and a whole lot easier. Again, prefer it from Vanilla but only because I HATE Vanilla Monster Condo but I don't hate this version. Really I was expecting something wildly different like another MAP15 or MAP12 situation but it was pretty faithful to the original I think. So... slightly disappointed but that's less because of something the map did and more because I was expecting something else so my bad on that one.

With MAP30, I'm pretty sure the twin monster spitters were a style choice more than wrong memory. No body remembers that part wrong.

Overall, I liked it. Fun wad to unwind to.

Thanks on the compliments of Abandoned Mines! I joined this project very late so it was this or the citadel. I focused a lot on the lighting, where I guess the atmosphere comes from.
