big smoke Posted January 7, 2022 (edited) well hello there long time no see huh, its been a while since i made something for doomworlds, so i decided to make one of my coolest and uniquest mod yet BIKE TIME TRIAL the mod is simple, go trought the track asap and get the shortest time so far this demo has only four super small tracks and it takes under 5 min to fully complete however i will add more tracks to this mod if enough people are interested in it important stuff to do before playing -run this wad with doom2.wad and gzdoom source port -use opengl rendering (hardware rendering) -turn on dynamic lights to see the lightning in some parts (optional) credits: -some of the bikes code as well as the modified sprite is from brutal doom (the bike is not the same as the bd one and its heavily modified) -textures are from TTland ,snap the sentinel and golden souls 2,otex,ctr music used: - daytona usa (lets go away!) - Roos tubes from ctr (crash team racing) - blizzard bluff from ctr (crash team racing) - tiny arena from ctr (crash team racing again lol) special thanks to: raveyard for helping me out with the bikes physics (thanks to him now the bikes handling is smoother than ever before) mimadm for modifying the sprite so it doesnt get cut off while turning screenshots (spoilers) Spoiler download:https://www.mediafire.com/file/qbpztjf9s2j6cnx/bike_time_trial_v_1.1.pk3/file i hope you have fun with this mod! Daytime Waitress Posted January 8, 2022 Utterly delightful, Smoke. Got a big bang of Namco's Cyber Cycles and Sega's Manx TT Superbike off of it. The track/scenery combination also somehow evokes all the best kart racers at once. And the juxtaposition of the breezy, open, "Sega arcade" atmosphere and traditional Doom "technological" aesthetic is currently working very well. Do you plan to implement drift or boost mechanics? The uphill climb at the end of the first track makes it seem like steeper inclines could be a bit of a slog. And how in the heck did you get 0:21 on the first track? big smoke Posted February 19, 2022 new update out! i decided to slowly work on a update for this mod, to expand and improve stuff in this update as promised: -i added 2 new tracks, one of them is a snowy one and the other is a remake of a track from ctr a ps1 racing game -i improved the physics, the bike now will detect the ground for slopes and change the angle smoothly to the angle of the slope -a freeroam map has been added, in this map you can practice with your bike and you dont have to worry about the time limit thing anymore -the menu is a bit updated, there is still room for development for this one but i will do something about it later aaaand thats it the new download link has been added to the main post so go get it there this mod may contain some bugs so if you found any, please tell me 3 Quote Share this post Link to post

Daytime Waitress Posted March 2, 2022 Only just got around to the update, and I wish I'd had time for it earlier. There are so many neat mechanics added in just this version alone: the varied terrain, the lap system, the suspiciously detailed starting hub in ice world that hint at potentially ludicrous secret chains Smoke is cooking up... And can an entire arena crowd be considered Doomcute? It's adorable, either way. I think that despite all the cool new stuff, I think my favourite part of this was just the actual racing part of it this time around - that hairpin leading to the final straight in the ice stage feels so satisfying to nail (if the pinky doesn't tackle you). 2 Quote Share this post Link to post

ShallowB Posted April 5, 2023 I don't know if you're still working on this, but I just played it and had a ton of fun! The bike handling feels great. I think implementing multiple laps would be cool because the maps are kinda short otherwise. Maybe a community project would be a good way to get more tracks!
