mod to port the bfg editions widescreen ui to 2004?

It seems odd, considering that the source code for D3 is under gpl, and source ports exist, that no one has bothered to port the ui over. Then again, subtitles have been missing in every possible version of doom 3, official or not, so maybe this is a case of laziness and/or not seeing it as a problem.

It's not straightforward to port over, as all the BFG UIs (including the HUD) are made in Flash, something the original engine lacked. This seems to be a residual aspect of BFG itself being augmented with idTech5 code.

there is a subtitles mod, just look for doom 3 cc or doom 3 closed captions. as for widescreen ui, d3ee or doom 3 redux or any mod that uses 6th venom's hq menu as a base basically has one.

I have tried that mod, unfortunately it seems to be broken and development on it has died.

The HUD probably uses Autodesk's now discontinued Scaleform GFx which will be impossible to backport to the original 2004 version of Doom 3.
