They must pay ok, though. I didn't hear anyone complaining about bad wages in Doom 3.

In a situation such as that, the money doesn't matter.

that's kinda offset by the fact that it's a company town. they basically give all their money back to the company by buying necessities from them and living on company-owned property, where they likely have to pay rent. it's essentially a way of taking back all the money that was paid in wages

"Yeah, hi I'm Steve, I used to work in the Deimos Labs, until they transferred me to the Halls Of The Damned... I fix the light-amp goggles..."

Imagine being the employee hired to ensure each candle on each golden candelabra stays lit? What a nightmare!

Don't radio for backup if you work for the UAC. They told me the lines were busy (fucking bollocks they are I'm the last person alive on this entire planet) and put me on hold to some bitcrushed elevator music that alerted all the demons in a 10 mile radius and just made everything worse. 2/10 customer support, would never work for these guys again.

Admittedly, it was the time to be a religious person. Imagine all the "I told you so" opportunities before getting zombified or slain by the endless hordes of demons.

You know what, I'd like to see a story where the human enemies aren't zombies but cultists, and black metal fans. Hellspawn enthusiasts who were spared and willingly joined the ranks of the stinky monstrosities. In style of 40k chaos worshippers.

From now on my official headcanon for lack of safety rails is that demons removed them to make the base look more evil.

The untold story of the original invasion...

Baron of Hell, standing with a clipboard: "Alright, everyone listen up. Before I begin, all zombies, I want to welcome you to the team. We're glad to have you here. Now, down to business. If you hear your names called, step forward. Imps 1, 3, and 10, Zombies 6, 8, and 22, and Demons 14 and 38."

Three imps, three zombies, and two demons step forward.

Baron: "Report to the Hangar. Imps, start dismantling the safety railings. Zombies, once the imps are finished, and you have access to the green slime, start filling up barrels. Demons, once they're done, push the barrels into position near the walls. Imps and zombies, you'll remain at the Hangar for further instructions. Demons, when you're finished, head to your next assignment at the Toxin Refinery."

Baron, clapping hands: "Alright, everyone has their assignments. Let's get this moving!"

...I'm getting a strange urge to go through the entirety of Doom and add all the railings, access ramps, caution signs, and other such things necessary to get the facilities up to code...

lol, that's what i always said when watching star wars or playing the jedi knight games. it's like they never heard the world "railings".

and from the events of all doom games, the uac's safety record is abysmal.

Now that I think of it, wasn't Doomguy dispatched to the UAC as a punishment? That alone would explain many things.

Everyone knows this place is a dump and this is why you were sent there. I could accept that UAC was involved with satanic summonings and all, but why all the radioactive slime to begin with? Do hellspawn feast on it and the UAC executives wanted physical means to attract the demons? But why spread it everywhere without rhyme and reason?

They do care enough to have several medkits around the facilities though.

Also, they don't have much toxic pools from where you can't go out from.

He.

From experience, i highly recommend keeping a weapon of some kind at your desk, a gun, fire axe, anything

If the military shows up, remember half life 1

If john carmack shows up, tell him the sequence 19993826351384AB123, this turns on "infinite dorito mode" on the red vending machine in breakroom 2b
