DixeGuy520 Posted January 27, 2022 if you know the doom bible you know about tei tener but why in doom 1.9 does tei tener come out if it was a discarded idea 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
Dusty_Rhodes Posted January 27, 2022 Game making is messy and takes time. That was probably an early graphic they just didn't change. It looks cool, so I don't mind. 2 Quote Share this post Link to post

adamastor Posted January 27, 2022 It's Tei Tenga, guys. The setting they imagined DOOM taking place in. You can read about it in the Doom Bible. 9 Quote Share this post Link to post
Gibbon Posted January 27, 2022 (edited) Well... https://doom.fandom.com/wiki/Tei_Tenga I guessed someone messed up the G. Edited January 27, 2022 by Gibbon 1 Quote Share this post Link to post
7Mahonin Posted January 27, 2022 (edited) It’s a leftover from early prototypes and story concepts, but likely looked cool enough to keep in. It appears to look more like a moon than a full planet, so maybe the idea was they were researching another moon for potential expansion. It’s also not that easy to read the letters on older monitors and at lower resolutions, so perhaps they didn’t think much of it. I know that there’s a lot of documentation on it on the doomwiki but it feels like they jump all over the place about what they think it is and all that. My guess is in the end, if Tei Tenga is meant to be of any significance in Doom for the UAC, it is due to it either being a planet similar to Mars, or being a moon similar to one of the moons of Mars. So they may have been interested in studying it from their labs. Edited January 27, 2022 by TelicAx7 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
Nikku4211 Posted January 27, 2022 At least we had an epic 90's ZDoom WAD come out of it. 0 Quote Share this post Link to post

Even better, its also a planet in Terminal Velocity. Even more better: Tom Hall, who designed a few maps for Doom, also did most of the maps in Terminal Velocity. Doom links in mysterious ways :) Edited January 27, 2022 by Redneckerz 1 Quote Share this post Link to post
Wadmodder Shalton Posted January 27, 2022 (edited) Also, is it me or is most Doom computer textures with planets on them sourced from Public Domain NASA images of planets and stars? Edited January 27, 2022 by Wadmodder Shalton 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
