gwain Posted January 28, 2022 (edited) has anyone submitted hypocrite commits to a doom port if so how did they handle it and how long before anyone noticed? Edited January 28, 2022 by gwain 1 Quote Share this post Link to post
Ralphis Posted January 28, 2022 For anyone who is unaware of what a hypocrite commit is, it is introducing a security vulnerability into an open source project via a patch. I can't recall anything recent as most PRs are vetted by the established source port authors. The most obvious example I can recall historically would be Fly hardcoding rcon privileges for himself into all csDoom servers. There are likely others. 8 Quote Share this post Link to post
SleepyVelvet Posted January 29, 2022 Someone's been secretly weaving cryptic leylines through all technology since the dawn of man. Bankshotting, scattering, and reassembling data from one subtle node to another. Reality itself is actually one big 0-day exploit. There's also a new blockchain architecture being spun up called DOOMcoin, and weaving people's Doom playthroughs (time of demo, etc) into the auth process, perhaps as a cool anti-cheat measure. But also for another purpose, a new grassroots Cacowards alternative (that seems to be in demand lately) - not to whom extends the blockchain, but mostly to who plays the most Doom maps in a year gets the most Doombux. This will drive the vote buying power behind the system. But actually, behind the scenes... there will be an assembly line that rolls out infinite Skillsaw map deepfakes. This engine will be called Skillharvester. And then I'll strap @roadworx and @Rudolph into harnesses and force them to play Skillharvest maps until the end of eternity, farming a critical mass of DOOMcoin all for myself so I can control the world from the shadows. This is (not) a shitpost. 3 Quote Share this post Link to post

Doomkid Posted January 29, 2022 I was expecting to read the experiences of someone who had once said "I love all Doom ports!", but then played them all more and eventually realized they actually only truly liked one of them, lol. 9 Quote Share this post Link to post
