Doombuilder1 Things not appearing in game

Hi

So I have worked quite a bit on a map for doom2 with doom builder one (couldn't get the other editors to run)

 

I have a problem with things not appearing in game. Any new thing I add to the map will be viewed in the editor but when I test the game they do not appear. It is not a matter of difficulty settings on the things. Does anyone have any suggestions of why this might be happening?

 

It is a map with vanilla assets only. I am using the setting zdoom (doom in doom format) for no particular reason.

 

At current there are 802 things in the map. Is there some kind cap for how many there can be?

(there are just under 9000 linedefs)

 

Any help would be appreciated! I was almost finished with this and I think it has turned out pretty decently so far

I found the problem. You just need to change the setting. You set the items and monsters to multiplayer only so they won't appear when playing the map solo.

Just turn that setting of and it should be fixed.

Have you perhaps enabled the "Multiplayer" flag on the things that are not appearing? That flag is not very well named in Doombuilder 1, since what it actually does is make the thing appear ONLY in multiplayer.

You could PM me a link to download the .wad, and I'll take a look at it if you like. I use DB 2 and have no issues with it producing maps in any format.

 

I may be wrong but vanilla Doom may have a limit of 128 sprites at one time, so 200 monsters in a room will have some not show. I use the gzdoom sourceport to run the game so I don't have the issue. Someone else may need to step in, but I can still see what occurs in gzdoom.

I also added a screen dump with  some locations for non-functioning things.

 

But as it stands right now I can add things in the editor but when testing the map they do not spawn.

As ancient as it is, I never had this issue with DB1, so I don’t think that’s the trouble. Since you’re mapping in a format that uses some ZDoom features, I just want to make sure you’re also running it in a ZDoom-family port? (A long shot but couldn’t hurt to ask)

I had thought the same thing @Doomkid, I will have a look at @kos 's map now ( I have been deep in Slade making Aracnorbs spawn from Augmented Arachnotron's tnite ^^)

 

Looks like it is solved, gg guys I knew it'd probably be something simple.

OK so I don´t know how that works, little how to do that. I'm kinda new with this

Well yup that seems to be it. Multiplayer was checked. But I could have sworn I cycled through those settings trying of find out what's wrong - thank you so much!

I really appreciate all the help from all you guys!

 

Map will be done quite soon, I,ll call It "looper trooper" or "multiport" or something. Ill post it on doom world when it is done.

I've tried to give a certain twist to a regular singleplayer level with basic assets and tools from db1 and doom2. 

It is a non-euclidian geometry level with a twist of "find-the-actual-exit" type of vibe.

A ZDoom family port is any port based on ZDoom, like GZDoom, LZDoom, Zandronum, ZDaemon etc (just letting you know for future reference)
