Hazel-Rah Posted January 31, 2022 I've recently started playing deathmatches and am slowly falling in love with it, but would love to learn more about it. Are there any good videos talking about the history of Doom deathmatching - maps, megawads, the scene in general, well-known players etc? Thank you! 0 Quote Share this post Link to post

I got lucky enough to come across some people in the community who told me about a lot of the history with the DM community and how it formed, evolved, etc.. If you're on Discord, you should start getting into some of the multiplayer doom servers, or any of the doom servers in general tbh. I really like to believe Discord is the best place to see how intertwined the communities are, and once you find your way in, you'll start to notice a lot of the same faces in different places. In the meantime, here's a playlist of videos from DevastatioN on his YouTube that help you get some of the basics downImproving at DooM - YouTube And I would highly recommend giving his Doom2 Bible a read as well - he focuses moreso on 1v1 gameplay, but all those basics can be translated over to FFA/DM style of playDoom Strategy Guide by DevastatioN You can also find some of the best players in the world still playing daily - I would frequently spectate Looper, Sedlo, etc.. having duels on ZDaemon, and got a lot of practice time in with Animal who thoroughly thrashes me for a good learning experience. All good dudes who wont mind if you say hello. I don't have much to share on the historical/archival side in terms of videos, but I thought I would share some content that I myself found useful when first getting into DM less than a year ago. Best of luck in your searches, hmu on Discord for some matches if you make your way there! Endless Posted February 1, 2022 Nobody has linked the Multiplayer Doom Federation youtube channel? Lots of cool MP videos, mostly DM tournaments, and also some podcasts. Sadly, a lot of lost history. 4 Quote Share this post Link to post
