What's the right place to upload maps, complete with thumbnails, title, and description?

Lets you submit maps without having to do the whole /idgames FTP thing... very easy to do.

If you read the "New to posting maps? Read this first" page, you can add them as attachments to posts and topics in the WADs and Mods forum here. Since you seem pretty new to mapping, I recommend you do that to get some feedback on your maps, what's good, what could use improvement, that sort of thing.

you can also do a google sites complete with google drive download embeds if you feel particularly inclined to give your wad download a unique hymn

Look at that thing Arrowhead pointed to. Easy and more convenient. Also: I will be happy to play your map.

And GitHub - also good as it gives you version control and rollback (as long as you commit/push frequently), particularly useful if you are making .pk3 archives
