Clippy Posted February 9, 2022 @Skronkidonk your map had the highest monster account yet so I only had time to do this one. I really enjoyed this map things were going pretty good until they weren't LOL. A lot of fun fight scenarios here I really enjoyed the imps ripping apart the cyber demon etc - I also especially like the look and feel of this map 2 Quote Share this post Link to post
Clippy Posted February 11, 2022 @ZeMystic I played your maps today. I will never be on board with these coked up hyperactive plasma Marines, but every other parts of these maps were thoroughly enjoyable. I really enjoyed the scenario at the start of map 14 and letting loose with the BFG at 15 was a bunch of fun. Good times 2 Quote Share this post Link to post

Clippy Posted February 12, 2022 Are other ppl playing this too cause they should This map was really cool @Egg Boy - I like the freedom to choose your path and I enjoyed figuring out these fights, especially that big baron fight - that was very intriguing - will forever hate those coked up marines tho but overall map was really cool! 3 Quote Share this post Link to post
Yasha Posted February 12, 2022 Okay 11 is absolutely shredding me, goddamn. It took me like 20 tries to just get to the red key cave section and THAT section is damn tough too. 5 Quote Share this post Link to post

MCarsten Posted February 13, 2022 (edited) I have been enjoying this WAD so far. I've played the first 10 maps. I have a question corcerning Map 10: Alma Matters though. First, I'd like to state that Map 10 is actually very nice. I enjoyed the setting a lot. The idea is pretty interesting. The map has a lot of non-linearities, which turns out to be stimulating. The rooms are rather dark though, perhaps would be nice if the player could be provided with some night-vision googles somewhere along the way. However, I was intrigued with one thing in particular. Is there any way whatsoever to get the BFG there? I can't even get next to it, given that the player is teleported a step earlier, since the BFG spot, which you can lower with a switch one floor below, is bounded by teleporting linedefs. I couldn't come up with any solution to this. It seems to me like the BFG is there just to fool the player. Is that the case? If so, that would be rather disappointing. My whole strategy was based in circumventing the Cyberdemon, get the BFG, come back - taking advantage of the non-linearity of the map -, and finishing him off alongside those Pain Elementals. Unfortunately, I couldn't grab it. P.S.: the only way one can get the Megasphere the room after the Cyby is by letting the Arch-Vile zap you? Teo Slayer Posted February 13, 2022 Hello, I've just started playing this WAD yesterday So far I enjoy it. I liked the Scythe references as it was the MegaWAD that got me interest in Doom mapping and I appreciate the midi version of Bad Apple used in Map19 since I'm a big fan of Touhou. Good job to the team 👍 3 Quote Share this post Link to post
Clippy Posted February 13, 2022 @mxbobbie49 made it to your map - way sooner than I expected - good stuff - extra props for no coked up marine - the secret one way thing got me lol - overall fun combat and a nice time I really liked it 3 Quote Share this post Link to post
pampoo79 Posted February 13, 2022 (edited) the maps seem really solid but the choice of music is bizarre (I mean those flamenco tunes in the first maps) Edited February 13, 2022 by pampoo79 3 Quote Share this post Link to post

Keyboard_Doomer Posted February 14, 2022 In MAP14 the 4 zombiemen near the start (things 15-18) won't wake up until you either damage them or enter the sector they're in (if playing in vanilla or demo-compatible source port). If using OpenGL in PrBoom+/DSDA-Doom there's also a large HOM where the zombiemen are: https://i.postimg.cc/T2jKqKG7/doom00.png 4 Quote Share this post Link to post
NaturalTvventy Posted February 14, 2022 (edited) Congrats on the release. I've jumped around and played a few maps and they've been pretty fun, until I find myself facing plasma marines. Then I repeatedly get destroyed. Am I the only one who finds them to be an insurmountable obstacle? For example map 11, where after grabbing the red key I'm faced with several plasma marines and a bunch of revenants in a valley with scattered obstacles. My only weapon is a rocket launcher at this point. The plasma zombies charge me, come at me from multiple sides, and mow me down before I can get more than a couple rockets off. If I try to shoot the marines from a distance they're way too fast to hit with the rockets, and up close they absolutely wreck me in seconds, even with 200/200. I've tried getting the revenants to infight but it didn't offer much help. I've had to stop playing two maps because of this road block. galileo31dos01 Posted February 14, 2022 @NaturalTvventy No you're not the only one, though with perseverance and a little experimentation you can circumvent most, if not all their appearances in the wad (: This is what I did in map 11 Spoiler In the map you're mentioning, my strategy was to release the revenants and trap them on the rocks by circling around the cave, then alert the marines who generally come one by one and trick them into shooting revs, which will keep them busy while you're still moving in circles, but you gotta look for other lost marines coming, so dodge and run when needed and head back to the red bars and raise the steps. The many stalagmites seem to hamper those dudes so that's when you pump rockets on the ones closer, and you have the newly raised hill to retreat and camp if needed. Btw, you do want the hitscanners already dead, and better if you can delay the megasphere grab... you can ignore the imps though, tbh the start would be less annoying without the hitscan riffraff but whatever... If you want to watch: vigor11marines.zip (runs with RC2) 6 Quote Share this post Link to post

They are indeed the reason why I stopped playing Brutal Doom some three years ago. Even though I enjoy BD a lot, a lot of WADs out there tend to replace the Wolfenstein SS Nazi with custom enemies. Unfortunately, in BD, they are replaced by these crappy unsurmountable arses of Plasma Marines. C'mon, what a load of crap they are. They are too uneven. It's plain overkill. Map 11 was simply the worst of all maps so far, mainly because of them. I won't lie. When they show up, I simply open the game console, type in "Freeze", kill them, unfreeze game and life goes on. Better than stressing out and not enjoying the rest of the game. 3 Quote Share this post Link to post
boltface Posted February 18, 2022 You can get softlocked in map05 by jumping from a window and landing behind these crates. 2 Quote Share this post Link to post

OpenRift Posted February 22, 2022 Hey, just thought I'd let ya know, MAP07's MIDI doesn't seem to play properly in vanilla. May wanna look into that for RC3. 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
Clippy Posted February 23, 2022 @DCG Retrowave this was insane and it was the hardest map in the collection so far no contest. It didn't even need to rely on coked up plasma marines. I really wanted to throw in the towel the whole time not thinking I was even going to get through it - nuts man wtf lol Evil genius design of nastiness - everything felt damn near impenetrable Enjoy this snuff film 0 Quote Share this post Link to post

I really wanted to throw in the towel the whole time not thinking I was even going to get through it - nuts man wtf lol Evil genius design of nastiness - everything felt damn near impenetrable Enjoy this snuff film I’m watching this right now and I’m really glad you finally found the rocket launcher. I felt so bad that you were suffering so much at first :O Also, that one soulsphere next to a crate can only be accessed with a squeeze glide. In an earlier release, I felt less confident about including something like that outside of my own WAD, so there was a teleporter to reach it. However, that teleporter caught players off-guard and did too much harm so I ditched it. It’s not tagged as a secret due to it being impossible to reach in GZDoom (some ZDoom ports will work, but not GZDoom for some reason). I’m insane so I like abusing weird vanilla quirks as seen in Secks Bad :D Edit: I watched the rest now. I don’t blame you for running away from everything at the end. Some of those arch-viles were left alive for so long that they probably resurrected more than you could realistically kill. It’s good to see how other players approach the map as you definitely did some things differently from how I would (like waking the sleepy Cyber guarding the blue key before actually taking the key :O). I try to design most of my maps with different play styles in mind and have more than one ideal route. Anyway, I hope you still enjoyed it overall despite the extreme gameplay! I generally make pretty difficult maps and this one is no exception (it is the penultimate map so it fits :D). I realize some players will get very frustrated, but I hope that my lack of evil marines evens things out XD Thanks for playing! Clippy Posted February 23, 2022 (edited) @DCG Retrowave this was the craziest map I've played in a while lol keep in mind I usually only have time to visit a map once so I never know what I'm doing and also contending with Ultra Violence on a foreign map. I was just astonished how the monsters were set up here everything was a log jam. But yes I was so distracted by monsters I missed the middle stuff for a while. After the video I took a look at the map and see where the secret is too, damn that would have been USEFUL Ah I never had a chance at that soul sphere then, my fault for playing with a fancy port but it's the one I'm comfortable with - I was thinking something lowered the crate. Ultimately I am happy to have been able to get to the end one way or another but I was getting pretty frustrated a few times, like chipping away at a large tree with a small hatchet - ruthless stuff This is one map for sure that if I could spend more time on it I could find better ways to approach it maybe - but scary stuff for a blind run haha good times what the hell is the next map gunna be?!?! Oh and I never played Scythe - I am correcting that in another video series with blind runs - I hear so many good things so I have to catch up here haha - you got some out of the box mapping here good stuff And thank you for the no marines!! Clippy Posted March 8, 2022 @Skronkidonk I finally finished this haha The first maps were short so I did multiple maps in a video and then as it got longer and longer it kept beating me up and slowing me down But I'm happy I finally got this one done and I had a lot of fun when I finally got some kind of a foothold going Actually really enjoy the look of this map too Good times I hope you guys enjoy my playthroughs and I had fun this is a pretty brutal set especially the further you get in 3 Quote Share this post Link to post
GarrettChan Posted March 11, 2022 Maybe the start of Map10 needs a bit of restriction for the AV movement. Right now it can easily create some ghost monsters and it's very difficult to deal with it due to the limited supply of rockets. 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
