ChocolateDoom .. can't start network game

Trying to have games on local network but every time i try to connect to a game i get disconnected.  Is there anything I have to do special to make it work?  Back in the 90's I thought it was just necessary for one to start a network game and the other to try to connect.

You'll need to be more descriptive for someone to diagnose your issue. How do you mean "you get disconnected"? What are you doing, what what is happening as a result? Remember you need to be a detailed as possible.

:) i knew it wasn't enough info.  On my windows 10 box I start network game and I get listing of Dsig (user on windows).  I then go to my RaspberryPI and start doom setup.  Join Network game.  It autofinds the windows box and i Select to join.  The windows box never displays the PI user.  If i start the game on windows then the PI shows "Lost Connection to Server"

The first problem is that I think the Pi box never gets registered with the windows box.  Like I said it does see it (autofind ip address) but never gets listed in server dialog.

By the way I tried it with 2 Pis.  Same exact response ... it sees the IP but never really gets connected on the "server".  The windows box has 2342 forwarded ... but that should only be necessary for internet games .. .yes?

Correct, that's only necessary for internet games. This sounds like your issue is specifically to do with the Raspberry pi, maybe the build itself has an issue with networking. It's possible you may need to get ahold of whomever maintains that, because I don't believe it's @fraggle in this case.

You wouldn't happen to have two x64 PCs to test to make sure they connect properly?

Any idea how i would find out who maintains it?  OR who is best to talk to about it?  Thanks

Unfortunately no. It used the be the foundation itself, but who even knows at this point. That may also be the problem; if the RasPi and Windows builds aren't of the same version, the netcode is quite likely to break between the two of them.

Also tried to use 2 pcs with same version but have the same error ... Client "sees" the server and tries to connect .. but never does.  It sounds like a setup issue to me but I don't know what it might be.
