Why did he decide to lawsuit Sega,Sonic Team,Nintendo,Electronic Arts,Bioware and Archie Comics? Was it for greed,NDA,DMCA or copyrights infringement? Ken Penders he was one of former Archie Sonic Comics writters and artists. It seems in one of Ian Flynn podcasts,broadcasts interviews due to unknown,mysterious reasons he didn’t want to bring back Tiara Boobowski especially her father Gazebo Boobowski possibly due to fact that long time ago from in the past one of Sega Technical Institute employees Michael Kosaka and including Chris Senn have left Sega back then.

I don't say this to be mean or anything, but I have no idea who this guy is or what this is even about and yet I found articles about it in all of 9 seconds with a simple Google search. Something about a contract dispute it seems; I am not going to read the whole thing. Plus it looks like it took place about a decade ago, so the odds of someone here knowing the answers well enough to answer your question is low. So this is an honestly polite and friendly suggestion (seriously, not trying to be a dick) that maybe it would be more productive for you to search for the answers yourself. You will get the answer you seek much quicker.

Not a Sonic expert, but from what I heard from some Sonic fans a long time ago - The DS game "Sonic Chronicles: The Dark Brotherhood" had characters in the story that were basically rip-offs of preexisting characters from the Archie Comic series (specifically ones that Penders created). He sued SEGA (or those other companies) because even tho the Sonic franchise belongs to SEGA, those characters were basically plagiarized. I think Penders won that lawsuit (I'm no legal expert, so I can't explain why exactly). Due to this lawsuit, modern Sonic side-media like the IDW comics (and maybe some mobile games) are far more highly regulated by SEGA.

Heh, no that's not it. Sonic Chronicles, made by Bioware, had an Echidna tribe as a key part of its plot. These characters were designed by Bioware under contract from SEGA, and were loosly based off the plot of Sonic Adventure and Sonic Battle (of all things, with the reintroduction of Gizoids).

 

Where Ken Penders comes into this is decidedly more... weird. As back story, Ken Penders was originally one of the writers for the Archie Sonic comics. The comics during this time were decidedly unsupervised by SEGA, there was ultimately no need as they were making money hand over fist, so Penders ended up seeing this as an opportunity to write an Echdina tribe based off his characters from an unpublished work of his, The Lost Ones. This was shortly before Sonic Adventure was made, but worth noting Adventure was made by SEGA Japan, who would have been entirely unaware of the status of the Western comics (the internet may have existed in 1998, but the world wasn't really as online back then as it is now, and not as culturally connected either).

 

However while the comic started going entirely off the rails and started to focus less and less on the title character, eventually SEGA became aware of all this, and after some restructuring Ken Penders left (was booted off?) soon after, replaced by Ian Flynn (the current writer for the IDW Sonic comics and apparently has a role in the upcoming game). Penders however kept trying to do stuff with the characters he wrote, which came to a head filing for copyright for his stories and then filing copyright infringement against Archie. Penders was supposed to have a work for hire contract, but due to some incompetence with Archie they lost the original contract, and eventually settled out of court. The terms of this settlement have never been made public. Speculation is Penders wife is loaded while Archie were going through significant financial trouble at the time, so Archie were basically forced to settle. It's worth noting that Scott Fulop tried the same thing and failed.

 

Some time after, Penders then filed copyright with Bioware over Sonic Chronicles over the character designs for Shade. This never made it to actual trial, as the Judge threw out the case at least twice due to how late Penders was attempting to file it (this was at least 5 years after the game had been released). The Judge once being quoted saying something along the lines of "you only seem to be here for the money". So no he owns nothing about the Sonic Chronicles characters at all, and failed to prove anything about their alleged origin, let alone get to the point where he could argue such a thing. Here's one of his appeals getting dismissed.

 

Also if your take away from this is "is Ken Penders really claiming he owns the concept of Echdina tribes on Sonic games?", yes that's basically the crux of it. He's all kinds of weird.

Don't know much about him suing anyone or vice versa, but I can sure as hell tell you why anyone sane would've cut ties with his ass long ago. Man doesn't just have twelve screws loose in his head, he's also a certified creep ass, and this garbage here isn't even the worst shit out of his mouth.

From what I can garner…

- The whole lawsuit malarkey. Which resulted in many favoured characters in the comic getting the boot as well as the whole universe-reset.

- His ‘Logic’ and sheer hypocrisy concerning what counts as plagiarism. He’s clearly whoring-out the image of an official SEGA character (Knuckles) in order to sell his Lara-Su Chronicles trash.

- During his time at Archie, he had practically no regard for the SEGA characters. He even said that his precious Dark Legion could “Eat Eggman for breakfast”, basically denoting that his pet characters are superior to the Sonic franchises’ main villain.

- He claimed that much of the success of the comic can be attributed to him when it was Ian Flynn who garnered it far more of an audience and appealed to them than he ever did.

- He’s a huge egotist, even having his own failed comic factor in the future of the Sonic comic’s storyline and have undue prominence. His own creation Dr Droid was intended to outdo and take more limelight from Dr Eggman and Knuckles in the originally planned future arc. The infamous SONIC LIVE! was practically just a ploy to have his own son and niece star in the book.

- Mobius 25YL was a huge pile of convoluted soap opera-esque melodramatic bullshit that didn’t go anywhere and is near-universally regarded as shit and a massive missed opportunity by fans. He demanded that that future be made canon in exchange for the use of his characters.

- His movie proposals were absolutely dire. At one point, he relayed the proposal to SEGA in a shitty way and backstabbed the late Ben Hurst to do so, getting completely rebuffed by SEGA.

- He claims that his comic “The Lost Ones” was a hit when it barely sold any copies.

- He can’t draw Sonic characters for shit.

Would it be written better? How would Light Mobius Issue of Archie Sonic Comics might be fixed?

Who was Queen Aleena's husband from Sonic Underground? So many plot holes. Evil King Shadow the Hedgehog was frozen from in the future,Princess Sonia Acorn(altered age timelines-once younger,once older and once again younger) had multiple redesigns due to time travelling story writing,trying multiple times to kill tomboyish Princess Sally Acorn,being menthally imprisoned by her royal parents(she couldn't help Sonic with fighting robots),face slapping Sonic(that one of infamous,controversial,pathological,emotional physically arguing moments in history),due to unknown,mysterious reasons in one of podcasts,interview broadcasts Ian Flynn he doesn't want to explain why he never added another tomboyish princess Tiara Boobowski/Cyberooski to Archie Sonic Comics not even to IDW Sonic Comics. By the way IDW Sonic Comics doesn't bring much new storyline writing things such as Emerald Hill Zone from Sega Mega Drive hardware business oldschool,nostalgic,retrospective era of Sonic the Hedgehog 2,Mystic Ruins from Sonic Adventure 1 3D lowpoly HUB world,another redesign of planet Mobius since Adventures of Sonic the Hedgehog,Sonic Satam,Sonic Underground,Sonic X which was something more dedicated to Sonic Mania(awkward Sega and Sonic fanbase renaissance era). Kind of,sort of same old stuff IDW Sonic Comics didn't bring much new things stuff of brand new rather old too retro storytelling and writting. For another instance,as an example Egg Hammer is nothing new it was a bossfight of Aquatic Ruins Zone fronm Sonic 2.

Of course I'm not. Anyway,but it seems back then when Sonic Adventure 1 showed up for a first time it seems Ken Penders saw a potential of ruining Knuckles the Echdina mythical ancient cartoony,fictional tribe. Previous threads it seems they cannot be bumped anymore. Another weird thing was that Knuckles the Echidna in future he had that cybernetic,mechanical dreadlocks hairstyle,there was also reference in Archie Sonic Comics to neonazi echidnas including Xorda alien invasion...etc. It's just only a fact of my language barriers. English is not my primary speaking language. That's why I posted so many multiple links. Now I'd like to explain that Sonic the Hedgehog videogame cannonical changes altered timeline of Archie Sonic Comics. Do you find concept of Anti-Mobius another one of very weird Ken Penders's ideas from in the past before he ever started his own lawsuits guys and gals? I guess it makes me I'm afraid very influent,intermmediate english digital,cyber speaker these days,nowadays. Speaking of religion they are forcingfully(some of them using bruteforce)trolling(indeed-maybe because those kind of people are absurdly,nonsesically bored,tired,exhausted of life or something of their private life career exsitence...etc.),spamming,shitposting,annoying(giving faith stalking,doxxing,prying,sexting quizes stuff,things regarding a religion) behaving like more mythical,ancient artificial intelligence,bots,algorithms,weird aliens.

Do you mean for instance,as an example Sonic Retro Forum Community Members? I was suspecting that English was not your first language. Couple of tips, put spaces after commas as I did here. You have a tendency to use them a lot, and when they are not broken up properly it makes for very long and difficult to follow sentences. It's kind of the reading equivalent of someone talking very quickly and taking little pause. Also, try to break up your sentences more. Keep them short and simple. You may find you get your message across better that way. Then read back your posts before sending them and ask yourself if you are really giving enough information about what you are wanting to talk about.
