Phantom Secret

Cybernight Zero

Question

I've only marked seven of my map's sectors as "secret", yet when I load it in GZDoom, (same with normal ZDoom) the map screen shows eight secrets.

I've combed through the map in Ultimate Doom Builder, thoroughly, and counted exactly seven sectors with the "secret" tag. and I've even loaded the level and clipped through everything, but nothing else tags as a secret.

As stated above, I'm using Ultimate Doom Builder, and using the Doom 2 resource, with the GZDoom (Doom 2) format.

I've included screenshots of my map, to show the marked secrets. Is there a known bug that would cause this issue?

I don't know if you mean 'GZDoom: Doom 2 (UDMF)' format by 'GZDoom (Doom 2) format ', but items can also be tagged as 'secret' in UDMF so it's possible you accidentally made one thus.

GZDoom (Doom 2) format.

You can use Find and Replace to find specific types of sectors (press F3, or navigate to the Mode dropdown menu). If you set the search type as "sector effect" and look for effect 9, it'll show all secrets (based on your screenshots you're using the vanilla effect, so that should be number 9). If you've not tagged items as secrets, my guess is you've split a secret sector into two somewhere along the way but forgot to remove the effect from one of them.

Thanks that worked. Not sure why I didn't think of that.

I had a secret sector, and it got made into a much smaller sector when I added a lift nearby.
