forgettable pyromaniac Posted February 12, 2022 (edited) Welcome to Morior Invictus! A community project that aims to return mapping to the 90's, but with a modern mapping lens. This is a low-threshold CP, but that doesn't mean we don't have a bit of standards. Story: (Credits to @Sr_Ludicolo for the original idea :D) Spoiler It's been a while after the DOOM Episode, and Doomguy can finally sit at peace at home with his pet rabbit Daisy, and veg out for a bit while looking for a new job since the UAC had since been dissolved, and earth has gone back to normal. Maybe working at a regular job for once could finally be the change of pace he needs. As Doomguy watches tv during his break, he feels... Off. Like what had happened wasn't over yet. And he was right. Later that day, he went to feed Daisy, but her eyes looked, well, soulless. It was because they had taken it! In the middle of the kerfuffle between Doomguy and the demons, they had eventually realized that they would lose. But to give Doomguy that one extra "screw you", they had taken Daisy's soul into the past, and are now using it to power a new demon-spitter! Doomguy has put two and two together, needing to jump between places and times to see where they had that newly constructed demon portal, before they rip a hole in the space-time-continuum! Of course, since space time hasn't yet been completely screwed, that means they're somewhere he's never been, which is good for him. He makes his way to the decrepid UAC space base, where the work-in-progress time machine was being built. Sadly, because of the way it was currently set up, it takes a LOT of power, so for each search attempt for Daisy's soul, Doomguy is going to need a new battery... ... But it's worth it. Time to take the time machine for a spin. IWAD - Doom2.WAD Port - Vanilla (Should be able to run in the original executable) Kinds of Play - All the big ones: Singleplayer, DM, and Co-oP! Mapping Regulations: Spoiler - A soft visplane limit of 100. You can go above 100 or under 100, but try to keep it around there to keep the 90's style. - The level MUST be able to run in the original executable. Please try to avoid overflows as much as possible. (I recommend ChocoRenderLimits!) - The start/end point must be the time machine (The SHAWN1 cube in the example map). - Must have support for all 3 difficulties, Singleplayer, Deathmatch, and Co-Op! - Try to keep the difficulty in a sane place, i.e. keep slaughter to a minimum (Defining slaughter the way MtPain put it: "If you have a BFG and the odds still look stacked against you) - The Yellow skull key is the only yellow key to be used, and it should only be used to exit the level. The other two keys are fair game. - YOU may choose your music, whether it be custom or one that already exists, but make sure it can fit in the 65kb MUS limit of vanilla doom. - If you want to add your own textures, please have the texture name be **[TEXTURENAME] where ** is the map number that you're doing. I WILL limit the amount of textures and it will be to my discursion to decide what is too much. Other than these, go nuts! You start in a wall so when you open the door, you're slightly inside the walll, and I made little bricks to better show that: Spoiler I also made the view from the window... If you test it out in a non-ZDoom port you'll discover that setting the flash frame to 6 actually causes it to disappear juuuust before the next frame begins. I'd still perfer it under flash than over flash, personally. ever since i saw that, it kills me. same with the SSG. To get the M_DOOM to look proper, I had to cut it. It does still look pretty good! A due date would help me juggle my time and (in the worst case scenario) give enough warning if I can't complete my map. 2) You base wad is a 7z file, which I'm unable to open on my end.
