Best DOOM WAD makers?

I'm just curious as to what DOOM makers I should use. Also I am unable to afford DOOM for PC, but would I be able to use a similar game that supports WAD files?

just go with ultimate doom builder, it's pretty much the go-to

How do I run freedoom. I've downloaded it and I am looking at the files but I don't see any application file

you use a source port. go look up instructions on how to use it, it's better to do that first than ask on a forum anyhow

Hey! For some stuff you do need slade. Mostly music changes, mapinfo etc. So you can get that one as well.
