RiseofAM Posted August 28, 2023 Hi, I played Doom a long time ago. But, recently I started to play it again and this time I will put up some demos on YouTube. Shortly, I will post more playthroughs with commentary (I'm still working on my voice to sound pleasant). I'll leave my channel here for you to check out. https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCUslT4Ul_Dj-vmnP11fFSrg 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
Naxius Posted August 28, 2023 Hi I'm Naxius and I've been playing DOOM for about 25 years. My first experience was watching my dad play through the original games and I fell in love. Even though there are stretches of time where I have set the game aside, DOOM and DOOM II are two of the very few games that I consistently replayed over and over. But, even with all that playtime AND knowledge of the modding world, I never got too much into custom wads and, as a result, was oblivious to the insane creations out there. Two years ago I started streaming DOOM every Monday, with the goal of playing through as many DOOM mods as I can find. Through this stream I finally played some of the greats, like Sunlust, Eviternity, Going Down and most recently MyHouse and Italo DOOM. I have had so much fun delving back into my childhood game and I have been lurking the forums, keeping an eye out for the next great custom wads. It's great to be here, everyone! 0 Quote Share this post Link to post

Cutman 999 Posted August 28, 2023 Well my About me says it, i'm just a dumb Latin-American who plays doom, does shit reviews sometimes related to doom, and some weird maps for community projects or personal releases. 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
SPACEDETECTIVE Posted October 14, 2023 Hi, I'm Nemo. I like old games and music and have had a fascination with old Doom maps for about two years now. I grew up with Doom on and off through the Xbox ports and GZDoom gameplay mods. I aspire to get into mapping and learn to compose about music. 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
Beast Bottaro Posted October 16, 2023 Hi, I'm Beast Bottaro aka "Beasto" and I started playing DOOM when myhouse.wad got out some months ago even before it was widely known out of the DOOM community with the video of Spazmastic Banana, the WAD catched so much my interest that made me wanna play the original games, so I decided to buy the classic games on Steam and play them myself, not only because of the technical acomplishments and how amazing the WAD is, but the charm that the game itself excuded, I liked it's simplicity at first glance. I'm a Half-Life folk, so I didn't know what to expect from it, but to be honest it's amazing how well DOOM plays even today, aged like fine wine, not only because of the wide variety of sourceports and ways to play it but because of the simplicity and formula that it presents is still a lot of fun after all these years, it doesn't feel janky or plays clunky like other games of the era aged. I came here because I wanna learn a little bit more about the community, the story behind it, and to hopefuly learn to do some things, like get into mapping, WAD editing and modding, and I'm so happy that my first post here about the DOOM writing recieved genuine atention even though the topic of discussion is just bland and obvious, it could've easily got ignored and get lost into the dozens of more interesting topics for the average DOOM fan, but it didn't, and because of that I can see how active this comunnity is. I hope I can meet new people and learn new things here. 👁 1 Quote Share this post Link to post

Tenerence Posted December 8, 2023 I made an account with two goals: get help on incredibly specific problems and find more stuff to play. This seems like a good place for both 2 Quote Share this post Link to post
realjohnmadden Posted December 8, 2023 Hi, I'm (not) John Madden, or Hydropolis. I joined Doomworld so I could get feedback for my maps, and also find cool stuff. I don't interact in any Doom servers or play multi-player, I just tend to play single-player by myself. 1 Quote Share this post Link to post
RICHIE B Posted December 28, 2023 (edited) Hiya, I was looking for a thread like this. I'm Richie, been nipping in and out of here for (many years) but more frequently in recent times, so it's time to join in and say hi. Been playing Doom since 2000 on PC, but only finally took my first foray into anything other than the main 4 wads in early 2022, having always been very reluctant of diving 'too deep', starting with Doom Zero because I saw Big Mac Davis playing it. Doom Zero remains the only wad I've completed without dying once. After that, I knew what I wanted to play next having seen videos and been astonished by it's scale and beauty - Eviternity! This remains my all time favourite. After stumbling across Dean of Doom it was then onto Memento Mori I & II, then Sigil. I had been searching Mount Pain's channel for especially good wads to play and Valiant came next, followed by THT Threnody, and finally one I'd wanted to play for a long time - Struggle Antaresian Legacy, which I played more than any other, only moving on when I discovered on my Internet homepage that Eviternity II had been suddenly released! Guess what I'm playing now... As for other Doom, I hurriedly rushed to grab Doom3 from Tesco the day it came out and bought Resurrection of Evil but had no computer by that point for years, by the time I got one my copy had been lost somewhere. It was only in 2022 I downloaded it from steam for £1.50 and finally got to play it. I've still not played Doom 2016 or Eternal yet but hope to one day lol. fefor Posted January 13, 2024 Hello, I've been a Doom fan for over a decade but it wasnt until recent years that I've started playing some community-made content and was blown away by their beauty and awesome gameplay, still even then I haven't played that many wads until 2023 which was when I went on a massive content binge and for the past couple of months I've taken a liking to playtesting things made by newcomers. Today I find myself wanting to make maps for the game, it's been an idea that has been on the back of my mind for quite a while, I'd also like to participate some more in the community as I've been a lurker for years but always was too shy to say anything. Aside from Doom I'm a huge Half-Life fan and anything related to retro fps, as well as arcade shmups and Sega racing games. I hope we get along well! 1 Quote Share this post Link to post
tony_mke Posted January 15, 2024 Howdy friends. Been playing Doom since I was a wee lad ('96-ish). Even became a software engineer simply from being so curious about how it worked. You'd think that after playing for 28 years, I'd be pretty good at the game. You'd think... I stumbled onto decino on YouTube as a senpai to study when learning to casually UVmax plutonia; he frequently references the happenings here. Then I found this excellent WAD Progression for Skill Improvement thread and have been following its advice by repeatedly dying like an idiot engaging in a high-feedback skill improvement process since. 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
JeffAri Posted January 16, 2024 Hi I'm JeffAri (my real name is Conner) and I've been playing Doom since August of 2020, I don't really play Doom as much as I did back in 2020 and 2021 but I still play it occasionally. Hyperion Posted January 18, 2024 Hey, I'm Hyperion and I'm pretty new to Doom. Ive played on and off since the 90's but only recently has it really taken a spot for me in gaming. Came about recently after playing through Goldeneye 64 and loved it so much i was looking for older games from the 90s to carry on, turns out it has a term now lol 'Boomer shooter' I bought the Doom collection on Steam and found out about WADs and here we are. So far its been a blast, enjoyed sampling many WADs and have started to record my footage which is a nice hobby to slowly build that. I love Doom, DUSK, Quake, Blood etc, anything from that era, back when games felt like games and not a life simulation. Load up and blast away! https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC4ZFrBIffgjCftBAKEs9RRQ shameless self promotion :P 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
