DoomWiki Month in Review (Issue #37)

After the preceding crazy busy months, February was bound to be a little slower (and also 2-3 days shorter), and personally I need that breather too. But the one true wiki still received a good amount of new and updated content.  Redneckerz made a promised return describing more ports, Getsu Fune/NuMetalManiak kept digging through the secret corners of another three dozen WADs, and plenty more mods got their initial coverage (though not all of them with map pages yet). Dynamo and I expanded basic info on Chex Quest series items/weapons and added CQ3 map articles.

 

Are you concerned about getting lost in ConC.E.R.Ned? The walkthroughs (almost done) by Gauss will lead you home. Endless provided some core content, and I finished more maintenance tasks with XymphBot API scripts as well as scripts directly querying the MediaWiki database.

Thanks for all the hard work, everyone! Won't be home until another week still but hopefully the current contributors are enough to hold the fort in the meantime.

Forgive me if this isn't the place to ask this, but is there a way to make some suggestions for articles that need updates? I ask this specifically because after carefully watching Dario's YouTube playthrough of The Plutonia Experiment I learned that Dario did indeed create 16 maps alongside his brother Milo, so that does put them both at 16 maps each - and some maps are credited to Milo which are actually Dario maps (maps 08, 13 & 25) and at least one is from Milo instead of Dario (map 24). The source is of course Dario's playthrough for this information - I added the timestamps for each video to be sure.

You can edit them yourself, optionally with a user account or else anonymously, and mentioning those sources is probably a good idea. The wiki is a collaborative effort, after all. :)

Making the secrets for MAP11 of Clippyworld was certainly the big one for this month. It's now the 76th largest page on Doomwiki to boot and I'm sure that there's a better route for finding these hundred secrets.

Awesome to see so much work done on the Doom Wiki. It’s really set the bar for game wikis as far as I’m concerned. Extremely high quality, informative content in an easily digestible form. Just an awesome piece of work.

As for the wiki, notable mods can be covered by anyone if there is a stable, public release.

The talk page of a pertaining article is the appropriate place for article-specific proposals/discussion, Central Processing for wiki-wide ones.

Heh, when I saw you were doing the secrets for Clippyworld I wondered if you knew what you were getting in to. Impressive stuff, that's a LOT of secrets to write up.

I did a good job of this back before I went on indefinite hiatus but in the spirit of being current (and especially because DoomWiki has review links on all of the relevant articles!) I went through and added in all of the DoomWiki buttons for articles that were created in the interim.
