Why is it called Alien Vendetta anyway?

Recommended Posts

Well apparently, the demons ARE aliens in our world. (Ironically though, the demons see Doomguy as an alien in their world...)

EDIT: Sniped. :-p

Demons are aliens too, in fact they are so alien that their very presence corrupts our reality.

The Vendetta part of the title could be explained as sounding cooler in Italian than in English, "Alien Revenge" sounds like a shitty sequel of Alien Resurrection.

Should have been DoomGuy is Angry and thus this title needs to sound angry too.

Inspired by your thread OP, i have a few aswell:

  • Why is Back to Saturn X called Back to Saturn X when the WAD is made on Earth?
  • Why Back to Saturn X when we haven't visited Mars yet?
  • Why is Technicolor Antichrist Box called this way when Technicolor is a product of the roaring twenties and i believe in Christianity?

My point: Sometimes things are just the way they are. Not everything has a deeper meaning.

Because that's what the author wanted?  Why is it called Doom when the marine kicks ass?  Same reason, it sounds cool..  'nuff said.

Because it was the only way of making sure I confuse it with Aliens TC every time it's brought up, every single time forever and ever

The title is cool as it's not clear weather  'Alien' refers to the Demons or to DoomGuy... either or both.

As it happens, literally just yesterday I was thinking about just when was the first time DoomGuy is on Saturn X, is there a sx.wad? And just why he needs to go back there?

they had to name it something eye catching if they wanted to steal the spotlight from the mount Rushmore doom mapping challenge

Why is it called Mano Laikas - A road to Gamzatti when there are no extinct or obscure Indo-European languages?

Why is it called Kama Sutra when there isn't any sex?

Why is it called Speed of Doom when there aren't any amphetamines?

I dunno, shooting the shotgun from the hip and delivering a hot load to demons sounds sexual to me

I've always considered the enemies introduced in Doom 1 and 2 to be aliens because they're from somewhere that isn't on Earth.

I'm sorry but the questions you ask make no sense (don't care if it's a joke or not, it's not very funny). Back to Saturn X should refer to something that happens inside the Doom universe. What does the story and title had to do with where the wad is made? Think twice. That's like asking - Huh, why is Doom taking place on Phobos, Deimos and Hell, if the game is made by some nerds in America?

As for the topic... Come on, don't pretend like you don't know what the OP means. More often than not, we refer to aliens as something that comes from space. Demons are not extraterrestrial in that sense, they're supernatural. How often does pop culture refer to demons as aliens? So in that sense, the title Alien Vendetta doesn't have much to do with what happens in the game. Even more so, it's not a standalone game, it's a mod for an already existing series of games that doesn't refer to its antagonists as aliens, so when you hear the title of Alien Vendetta at first, it's easy to think that there might be some extraterrestrials in it, or at the very least, to take place on an alien planet... IN SPACE!

Uuuuuuuh... Dude, did you miss map 30 ? Aka that one level where you penetrate a giant demonic vagina with a clearly phallic object (a rocket, in this case).

I am sorry that the joke does not appeal to you.

What do you want to hear Zaxxon? Oh gee, how bad of me that i took some unintended phrasing that sounded funny to me to a next level instead of going into a well-mean't study of the thread's question?

The problem, is choice. I made a choice and went with a humorous one this time around. I don't feel this needs any more explaining.

I always thought it was inspired by the Alien franchise. There's even a level called "Alien Resurrection ."

Except, that wasn't a joke, it was an example of the nonsense you've posted. Please, stop replying to me if you're unable to read, or understand something that simple.

So you don't like my kind of humour. That's cool. 7 others understood what i tried to convey. You didn't. That's all good.

What's nonsense for you, is hilarious to someone else.

I understand you quite clearly. Is the opposite also true?

Feel free to take this to PM's if you want to answer that.

Because it leaves you bloody, but Alien Venacava would be too on-the-nose.

Maybe the crew foresaw Ancient Aliens and realized that Alien Venerated would just be redundant.

Alien Ventilated sure isn't a guarantee in the later maps; usually it's the other way around, and so they wisely avoided this name.

There sure isn't a lot of puppet theater, making Alien Ventriloquism a bit unfitting.

I think Alien Ventured is still up open for adoption to any welcoming famil—er, mappers.

And the less said about Alien Venusian, the sexier it remains. Let's hope so.

In short, Alien Vendetta sounds like an album by The Police and we all know this mapset Stings. [hears shotgun pump and runs]

They are aliens but are called Demons as a blanket term. They are infact the biblical demons spoken of in the bible however Hell and the demons are not what we thought they were. Instead of some sort of spiritual monsters they are real aliens misconceived by ancient peoples as such. Since what they are capable of, its not hard to believe that they would be seen as some sort of powerful evil spirits however they are not. They are physical beings and "Hell" is what we refer to their home world as.
