Gibbon Posted March 6, 2022 (edited) Welcome to Pandora! A community project that aims to produce a modern megawad full of maps that 'would have' been considered as shovelware back in the mid-90's. This is a very low-threshold CP. As long as the map can be completed without cheats, then it can go in, let your wildest crazy-a** dreams come true! Pandora is the shovelware challenge started by @Mr. Kong Story: Spoiler Doomguy was on discord rehab with the Doomies Shovelware Crackfiend Society and this felt like a good idea at the time IWAD - Doom2.WAD Port - Vanilla (Must be able to run in DOS). Use whatever you want for your own testing but keep DOS Vanilla limits in-mind. Play: SP, DM and COOP Mapping Regulations: Spoiler - The level MUST be able to run in the original executable. - The level must be able to be completed without cheats. - OPTIONAL support for all difficulties and all play types (SP, DM and COOP) - EDITED 23.6 - MAP difficulty isn't a concern. Bag it the way you want it, but try to be reasonable. - You can have a custom midi, just keep the DOS limit in-mind (65kb) - don't obsess over your map. If you think it is ready then it is ready. Misaligned textures etc.. are part of the charm (but don't overdo it). - Custom Sounds, Text, Textures, Sprites etc... ARE ALLOWED AS LONG AS THEY ARE TAKEN FROM REAL SHOVELWARE WADS. Endless Posted March 6, 2022 Oh woah. This is an unexpected and nice surprise cp! I'd say that, to me, at least, a shovelware WAD/compilation mostly represented a conjunction of badly executed potential and a magic of random discovery. I think that what also matters a lot is the vibe and presentation of the compilation, which mostly were downright lies but hey at least they looked cool back in the 90s lol Also, MAP05 please! 4 Quote Share this post Link to post

Also, seeing as this CP was born from the minds of the Shovelware Society, I'd like to pitch in as a tester, if that's of any interest. Gibbon Posted March 6, 2022 @game - I fixed the WAD for DOS (missing texture crashed it at startup), vanilla doesn't like that. I mean, sure it works as Biodegradable said. Maybe a central area with some originality would be good too. A lot of shovelware pasted parts of DOOM / DOOM2 inside maps that some custom areas too. 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
