Thanks.  I mean, to a lot of people I guess they like to forget about those days, but for me, shovelware was the 'only' way to get doom wads as the internet back then was very expensive (for Brits at least).  Those CD's will always be special!

you can take the fireblu out of doom2.wad and then place the disc on top of it then you probably know the rest

Hey there, folks ! Here's my submission for Pandora :

 

Name : Demoncide VII - Prelude to Fort Mayhem

Integrated Difficulty : YES

MIDI : Ozzy Osbourne - Killer of Giants

 

Tested on :  GZDoom (works) / Chocolate Doom (works). Other engines to be tested soon, but I'm confident anything else might do perfectly.

hmmm a megawad is a lot to take on TBH but we will see how time goes

 

so many maps!

 

At best I will try to add it to my rotation but it's getting harder and harder to keep up

This is the one I made it's called Shred Impulse. I asked DOS if they like this map and they said yes :) There are DM and coop starts. I made sure every difficulty setting is balanced just right ;) I gave it a real '90s midi it's track 8 from Descent. No custom sky. I wanted to replace the plasma sound since the OP mentioned custom sounds, but after a bit of looking I couldn't find any real '90s shovelware wads to pull a sound from. So I used a sound from TSOUND.WAD a wad released in 1995 by Tom Smith. It would be cool if this wad had a plasma sound replacement, whether it be this one or one which is more in line with the theme of this project, so if anyone has a more 'shovelware' sound we could use, I would also be happy with that instead.

 

Also I just want to say a really big thank you to Gibbon (and Kong?) for hosting this CP :)))

Ha!  Perfect

 

I loved the textures and sky texture for floors.  That plasma rifle sound is pretty fetching, I like it.  I forgot how retro Descent's midi's are.

 

Finished it in 6 minutes..  phew, what a blast!

 

It is now in the 1.4 version base wad.

Fun map! I like the overtones of skins and greys, and the music is epic (but copyrighted)

Only thing I disliked was how to exit the map. You see me searching for a long time before figuring out how to exit.

Short but sweet! Not too difficult, but I tried to speedrun it and failed again and again.

This map is almost too pretty and too detailed for shovelware! But you did use some classic 90s architecture and gameplay, so I'll forgive you. Had a blast in this one.
 



No video but some comments:

 

@Paf It's speedmap but it works. I remember making a map like this myself in the 90s. Start outside in a rocky area then move into a techbase through a secret route. Bit short but def 90s.

 

@ShadesMaster great map! I love the misuse of textures to create a unique look for each area. Gameplay is 90s too. Can't believe you made this in an hour.

@ScrappyMcDoogerton  I tried recording this but gave up after dying 10 times in the first room.

Well, this was fast! Enjoy your usual Doom map converted into Doom 2 via DM2CONV, how many of them are around in the old times WAD compilations?

I'll post the original Doom Version i did too, if you want.

Description: Demons have flooded the castle with innocents blood! Now is your turn to destroy them all but be careful! The keys are been guarded by piranha pools and a fiery cyber-minotaur! Oh no!

Story:

The bombastic soldier known as Doom Man crawls out of a stinky damp cave after completing his mission of annihilating a small lizard population. Although the plan was to escape on a helicopter filled with beautiful women, Doom Man is left to stare at an open field of monsters guarding a castle as hell itself rises from the Earth. It's your mission to brutalize anything that moves, perhaps even yourself, in an attempt to escape The Castle of Corpses.
