Every goddamn port I have can not load any BD weapon mod I get.

  • Which mod are you loading up? Brutal Doom has multiple mods so an exact filename helps.
  • What launcher are you using?
  • Which exact error code are you seeing (Screenshots would greatly help)?
  • What does the error log (Found in the same directory as any of the ports you mentioned) say?

If anyone is going to be able to offer you any solutions, you're going to have to provide A LOT more information than that. Start from the top: What are your PC specs? Are you using the current builds of each sourceport? Do you have any screenshots of the errors you're getting? Details, man, details!

Uh..

I thought it was a common problem, but now I see it's more complicated. Well, it all comes down to the screenshots.I don't know what this shit is about. I can play more complex things with no problems like Project Brutality and the weapons mods of COD from that guy Arrowood.

Almost seems to me like a load order issue.

 

Important question: do you use a launcher like ZDL or do you just drag-and-drop the files onto the .exe?

Those LZDoom and GZDooms are ancient. Update them.

 

Latest GZDoom is 4.7.1, you're using 3.0.0. Latest LZDoom is 3.88b, so that is closer.

The current version of GZDoom doesn't work for me, I can live with the old one, I think. But I didn't know about the LZDoom update, thanks tho

GZDoom (and most other Doom source ports) have a load order. The file loaded last is considered to have precedence. If you're dragging and dropping, it is going to go by the order you click the files by. (A launcher will let you more specifically set a load order.)

 

Let's say you got two PWADs with custom maps, one replaces MAP01-16, and the other replaces MAP12-32. You select them, then drag-and-drop onto the EXE. This means that the game needs to resolve a map conflict for slots 12-16.

 

  • 01-16 first, 12-32 second: MAPs 01-11 will be from the first PWAD, 12-32 from the second. Maps12-16 from the first PWAD are overwritten by the second - even though the first PWAD has map slots starting at 13-16, the second PWAD starts at MAP12; since it's later in the load order, it wins.
  • 12-32 first, 01-16 second: Maps 01-16 will be from the second PWAD, 17-32 from the first. Maps12-16 from the first PWAD are overwritten by the second - even though the first PWAD has map slots starting at 12, the second PWAD does too up to MAP16; since it's later in the load order, it wins.

 

So basically, it's entirely possible you are loading multiple PWADs/PK3s/etc. and doing it in such an order that the engine gets confused (by trying to look up stuff that isn't there) and so it bombs.

 

So basically, you'd want to be sure you're selecting Brutal Doom first, then the weapon mod files after. Otherwise, the weapon mod is going to try to modify a gun that, to the engine, literally does not exist (as the main mod is not loaded yet), and so it gets very confused.

Unfortunate. If this turns out to be because that version of Brutal Doom is using features the later versions of the engine need (i.e; ZScript), you basically have to hope LZDoom has "enough" to keep it going. But for the most part, it should.

 

If it doesn't, though, it means your system is too out of date on the GPU side of things for even LZDoom to help it out.

Essentially what Dark Pulse said above. Load order becomes a pain to manage with drag-and-drop when you load enough WADs at the same time. Which is why I always recommend a launcher - the load order is much easier to manage with one.

If you want, you can also use the command line to load your wads or use a batch file with something like this:
