How to categorize OTEX textures in DoombuilderX?

Recommended Posts

So I downloaded OTEX awhile ago and was screwing around with it in DoombuilderX but I can't use it properly since all of the textures load in as a single category of textures and looking for exact type of textures (doors, switches, etc) is a pain in the ass because of this since you have to scroll all the way down to choose the type of textures you want... Is there a way to categorize them without having to use Ultimate Doom Builder? I did download UDB yesterday and tried to follow instructions in the .txt file but it yield no results so I had to uninstall UDB. I also downloaded another texture pack the same day, added the .wad file in DBX and all of the textures were already categorized. That texture pack is nice, but I really really want to use OTEX instead so... Do I need some extra tools to do that or the only way to categorize OTEX textures in DBX is to do it manually?

I'm not really good at doom editing but my suggest is use Doom builder 2 or GZDoom builder.

It's better than DoombuilderX.

DBX is actually developed on top of DB2 so it's better overall, not the other way around. Also, GZDoom Builder has been abandoned years ago, don't use that. If you change to any other editor, let that be UDB instead, which is the currently maintained continuation of GZDoom Builder.

Also i'd love to be wrong (anyone else please correct me if thats the case), but i think the feature of categorizing textures with the config linked in the Otex website requires functionality only UDB has.

So the only way to categorize them in DBX is to do that manually? What a bummer. Oh well. Guess I'll have to categorize them manually... Some day... :D

@CoolerDoomeR Yeah, UDB is more user friendly and all, also it looks better, but I got used to using DBX because... It feels more 'oldschool', I guess? Idk, but I don't really feel like switching over to UDB anytime soon...
