Dusty_Rhodes Posted March 15, 2022 Hey all, Dusty here, I've been mapping for the C:\Pandora project recently. While playing, I've been listening to Music for Films and Discreet Music by Brian Eno, as well as Minecraft Volume One by C418. I feel like the map could benefit from a truly* ambient midi. Any good ones you've heard? Any good place to find them in general? Has a map with monsters ever really used an ambient midi. I'd love to hear a Fripp and Eno style midi as well, something ambient that centers around guitar instead of keys. Idk maybe this is silly, but I feel like something of the sort might benefit this map. I also feel a discussion on ambient music being used in Doom could wield some interesting findings and opinions. That's all. Thanks *truly is used as a sort of strict definition of ambient music: music that doesn't really have any extreme melodic changes or any rhythmic pace, music that exists solely to amplify the atmosphere of the space it's in. Brian Eno has written some interesting stuff on the subject. 0 Quote Share this post Link to post

I haven't played Even Horizon or Sunder, but I'm familiar with the rest. The BPRD ones are totally too iconic, but I'd love to do them justice. I wonder of this song has a midi version? I was kinda thinking something like that, so I'll get looking. 0 Quote Share this post Link to post

Astronomical Posted March 16, 2022 I am a huge fan of the work of Mark Klem, some of his slower tracks may fit what you need. I would just download his midi archive and pick a track you like. https://static.angryscience.net/pub/hosted/klem/midi/ I am using The Everlasting Negitive so you may avoid using it. 1 Quote Share this post Link to post
Roofi Posted March 16, 2022 (edited) Not sure if this is what you want , but I can recommand you the midi files by Elan Michaels. I think all of them were composed in a Native American style but very atmospheric in any case. I love "Quest of the Turles" and "Sky Dog" from him. https://www.angelfire.com/md/elanmichaels/MIDI.html Edited March 16, 2022 by Roofi 1 Quote Share this post Link to post
