People told me to have more confidence

such confidence...

Also I tried it and half the textures didn't load so yeah I didn't really finish that. I'd say to watch videos about how to use doom builder or whatever you use to improve over time.

Also just compliment yourself man, you got the motivation to make a map I sure as hell don't get that most of the time

Yo

I see that you're new here, but low effort posts usually don't get much attention.

But don't let that get you down, read this thread and get up to speed on what it takes to get some feedback on your wad!

What format is it?

It instantly crashed on prboom-plus.

Also, you should list the formats, and add a few screenshots. Also mention what IWAD it is and what texture pack it has.

have some confidence in yourself man. your not gonna get anywhere calling everything you do terrible or saying that it sucks. im sick of seeing this kind of mindset when people upload maps.

Looks pretty abstract, and I perfer that to big startan boxes. It's not required that your maps are great or even good, but yeah, don't do the whole "it sucks" thing. We see that stuff a lot here, I even did it in my first map thread. It just serves no purpose, and half of the replies will be from easily-irritated bastards like me who will point out that saying "it sucks" sucks.

If you feel like you made something that's bad on a technical level but still want to share it, you could always say "here's a 1995 style wad" or something. I even wouldn't have a problem with "here's my shovelware-compilation style wad". Because that at least insinuates that it has a certain level of charm, which means that it doesn't just suck. It's really hard to enjoy something when even its creator thinks it's so worthless that they can't even be bothered to post a screenshot or two.

Hope I did an okay job explaining that. I like your new OP much better, even if you're being sarcastic that's still okay with me.

Honestly though for a first map it's pretty good. Much better use of textures and overall it still works. I remember a lot of people's early maps weren't even able to complete, lol.

I mean... it's a map, I suppose. Not bad for a first attempt. Outside feels a bit more detailed than the inside, and gameplay seems solid. Not sure what else to say... thank you?

My first wad spoiler alert it's the best wad you've ever played and it's only one level

atp - Copy.zip it doesn't work with PR boom + it's a wad for doom 2

So it isn't the best wad i would ever play. Kind of contradictive, does it?

That said, its a solid map for a first.

If you aren’t going to put effort into presenting your project, why would people put effort into playing it?

There is a tendency lately to present your map without any scrupules and usually with some cheesy heh attached to it trying to pull off a clever trick when most of us know the heh and its just boring as a result.

But yeah OP - Don't do cheap jokes and present your work with respect. You did the effort, so you would want others to play your effort, no?

I just kind of made the wad and posted the wad

But it was the best wad anyone would ever play, you said.

And you wouldn't lie or joke about that, do you?

If I'm an "asshole" for being against self-flagellation and being of the mindset that purposely making low effort posts is a waste of a creator's potential and their audience's time and trust, that's all good with me. I'm hardly the first person to express such sentiment and I guarantee you I won't be the last, either.

Personally, I think it would be a better use of your time if you were to stick to reviewing maps instead of using your videos to try to sneak in hamfisted insults directed at people who weren't talking to you in the first place.

Don't listen to anyone who plays Doom using OpenGL texture filtering at 5 frames per second (vomit) :P

@garf - Here's a video of it.  1080p, 60fps using SoftFX and BlackOps mods.

Spoiler

Was pretty fun, I've classed it as a shovelware map.  If you did this 25 years ago you'd definitely be on one of those discs.  Don't put yourself down, chin up and keep mapping.  I love these kinda wads, definitely more fun than playing something from a perfectionist.

@garf, since I accidentally tanked your thread, I figured I'll help get things back on track by telling you what I think of your map:

It is very obviously a beginner map, but of the good kind. The "good" kind meaning that a lot of heart and creativity is evident, despite the map's brevity. Instead of big, empty, monotextured areas, we get some nice and funny Doomcute and a decent attempt at making the map feel like a place instead of a hodgepodge of 90 degree angles and startan. There isn't much in the way of combat, but sometimes that's okay. It's not wrong to just want to have some fun building objects and stuff when you're first starting out. I thought it was a charming map, and I wasn't bored with it unlike most beginner maps, which tend to feel cold since the mapper hasn't learned how to find ways to express themselves yet.

Apart from this garf, also give your post some life.  I know you may not feel like it is worthy, but every map to some degree deserves a little introduction.  It isn't what is created but the time and thought that went 'into' creating it.

Something like..

Title:

Format: (Doom/Doom2/Boom)

Source ports:

Map Slot:

Difficulties implemented / Multiplayer / Singleplayer:

Just a little bit so that those who want to test it out, know exactly what they are getting and how to set it up.
