Unlikely, I think. Anyway, I don't quite understand the point of this thread. You registered a domain for DOOM, good. But what does the ".gay" part have to do with anything? What kind of recommendations are you looking for? You could make a review site, a repository, a forum, post your own levels, or explore philosophical subjects. You could talk about things like microbots, invisible battle tanks, soft drinks, Mongolian throat singing, or human cloning. What do you want to do? 3 Quote Share this post Link to post

Is that gay? *thinks about life choices.* In seriousness, I'm not really sure how many LGBT Wads exist. That could be an interesting topic to focus on? 4 Quote Share this post Link to post
Xenaero Posted April 3, 2022 I like how it directed me to this topic. You could do a spotlight on authors and maps I guess! Is there enough of a niche? 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
raymoohawk Posted April 3, 2022 if it can be kept free of haters than redirecting to this thread would be cool 0 Quote Share this post Link to post

Zulk RS Posted April 3, 2022 Why does .gay even exist as a top level domain? Like .com is commercial, .org is organization. .net is network (I think.), .gov is government. .edu is for educational institutes. What's .gay for? Or can anything be a top level domain and they don't have to mean anything and my IT text books were wrong... 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
lokbustam257 Posted April 3, 2022 In my opinion, you should redirect it to this URL 2 Quote Share this post Link to post

There are no restrictions on most gTLDs. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Generic_top-level_domain https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Internet_top-level_domains#ICANN-era_generic_top-level_domains 1 Quote Share this post Link to post

Things changed in 2011 when the ICANN decided to allow anyone to create a new TLD -- as long as they have the moolah for it. Initial price was $185 000 for registering a new TLD, plus an annual $25 000 fee to maintain it. You can see why there's a big incentive to allow anything and everything to become a TLD. https://www.theguardian.com/technology/2012/jun/13/icann-criticised-commercial-landgrab-internet Edited April 3, 2022 by Gez 1 Quote Share this post Link to post
Zulk RS Posted April 3, 2022 (edited) Ah thanks it makes a lot more sense now. So ah... assuming someone shells out the 185K for registration and another 25K for maintenance, how do they make that money back? Followup question: If someone fails to pay the 25K, what happens to their TLD and the sites that use said TLD? Edited April 3, 2022 by Zulk RS 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
