Frost-Core Posted April 5, 2022 Hello! Some of you might know about the Doom Press Release Beta, its a beta thats almost close to the final registered build, well it does not have any sound or music, and some of you might know about "a Visit to id Software", well it has an interesting doom build, it does have sound, and is kind of like the press release beta, lets call it the "oooh!" build, this is from november 1993, but what day number? has anybody managed to track down this build?, who is behind that "oooh!" sound?, this is too much missing info that the video has never talked about, also why is that sound high quality? (to me at least, does not look like a dos pixelated sound). i may sound stupid and this has been answered but i just want to know more about this. 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
Quill Posted April 5, 2022 To my knowledge, the sounds were placeholders from the SNES version of Wolfenstein 3D. As for the build, I'd say it's lost for now, but there has been a valiant effort at recreating those versions of the maps. 2 Quote Share this post Link to post

Hmm, about the sounds i don't have an anwser to this question : SNES Wolf 3D came out in 1994, and 1993 is the date of the build, how? 0 Quote Share this post Link to post

They probably had the sound files as SNES Wolf3D was in development at the same time as Doom. That's why they're higher quality than in-game. 0 Quote Share this post Link to post

Build dates can differ from release dates because a build takes time to build and a release can be set whenever. ... this is obvious, no? 1 Quote Share this post Link to post
